Our Journey to Elizabeth... the condensed version!

We left for China on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 for our beautiful daughter, Elizabeth.  She was waiting in the Fuling First SWI in Chongqing, China.  We arrived in Beijing on the 12th and stayed there for two full days.  We climbed the Great Wall of China, toured Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven.  Everything was so beautiful.  It was an amazing experience, but the best came when we reached Chongqing.  We left for Chongqing on Sunday, August 15th.  We arrived at the fancy Hilton and settled in for our final night before we had Elizabeth.  On the 16th we left for the orphanage and got our hands on our girl.  She was a wiggle worm from the moment she came to us.  It made us worry a little bit about the 11 hour flight back to the states.  While we spent a few days in Chongqing with Elizabeth we got to go to the zoo to see pandas and to a park that overlooks the city of Chongqing.  It was a great opportunity to learn a little about the area where she was born.

Our last stop in China was in Guangzhou and the American Consulate.  We stayed at the White Swan Hotel and did a lot of shopping!  We had many sleepless nights with a sick little girl.  She ran a high fever and fought through a rash.  The entire time she was sick she was nothing but smiles.

We flew to Tokyo on August 25th and spent the night there before our final flight home!  She was amazing on all the flights on the way home.  We found out when we got home that she had an ear infection.  We are now home and really enjoying our growing family.
