Notes The Rapier was designed as a short range mobile SAM system in the mid 1960's. At this time the British Government were not sure to obtain a British designed weapon or the US MIM 46 Mauler. In 1965 the MIM 46 was cancelled which left the British Government with no option so the development of the Rapier was started.
In 1982 the Rapier was made famous by the Falklands War.
