But despite this Summer wants to keep up her image and repuation.Nothing would mess up her image more than being seen with Seth Cohen, but despite her attempts, she can't help but feel attracted to him, and is even willing to compete for him with Anna.

Whilst spending so much time with Seth, to help him get Summer, she finds she likes Seth also and cannot hide her feelings. When Summer realises that Seth may like another girl, jelousy hits in and Summer forgets her image, all she wants is Seth and makes makes him realise he needs to make a choice between them.
Seth chooses Anna but when there similarities clash Seth treats her more like a sister than a girlfriend, they break up and Seth gets together with Summer. Anna having no other reason to stay in Newport goes back to Pittsburgh, after a tearful moment from Seth begging her to stay at the airport.
