Thoughts

I don't use this to keep track of my random thoughts anymore. That's what LiveJournal is for. So, come see me there. Or here, rather.

But hey, if you want to know what I was thinking a long time ago, go on and read.

Previous Thoughts

Thoughts for 3/16/04:

Been a while since I've updated this! I've really moved most of my thoughts to my livejournal blog. You can find that here, but the journal isn't strictly about wrestling as this tends to be. Hopefully, I'll still keep this lil corner of my site updated (semi) regularly, as I tend to post more wrestling-centered thoughts here, and a lil bit more personal stuff there.

Well, we all know it's coming so...

TAKER'S BACK!!! I just re-watched his match against Kane, and I marked for him coming out w/ Paul Bearer and the Druids and the old funeral dirge as hard as I did when I watched WM live. Well, I didn't scream as much, but I was on the inside. Heh... Taker's return makes me very, very deliriously happy, and I can't wait for SD! Thursday night to see what goes down. Hopefully, a kickass promo with Paul. Possibly a Funeral Parlor? (Yeah, wishful thinking...) But whatever comes, I'm just so happy to have Taker back gracing my tv screen every week!

WMXX was a great ppv, well worth the fifty bucks I'm paying for it. One huge note that I can't withhold when mentioning WM.... CHRIS BENOIT is the *NEW* WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!! He so deserves this. He's worked his ass off for it, and it's about damned time that he made it to the top of the ranks! I screamed for his victory over HHH almost as much (possibly more) than I did for 'Taker's return. And Eddie coming out and the very emotional moment he and Chris shared out there... was awesome. Both guys deserve to be where they are right now, and they made it there together (more or less). The hug and the crying killed me, and I was left shaking after all was said and done. Very powerful, very satisfying.

Thank you, Vince McMahon!

Thoughts for 2/06/04:

Think I should treat myself to a TNA ppv this upcoming week. I really want to go cause the AAA promotion & TNA'll be competeing against one another. I enjoy watching lucha libre on the spanish channels we get here, and would love to see them in person. Just wish Latin Lover would have come along. *pouts* ... *ponders: is Latin Lover in AAA or am I insane?*

Smackdown is in serious need of strong faces. If Cena hadn't turned face when he did, they'd really be hurting right about now. Benoit leaving them really hurt. But I have every confidence that things'll get better.

Edge really needs to get back to SD! He'd be a sight for sore eyes. I mean, Eddie can't carry the whole show. Edge would be a hot commodity for quite some time when he gets back... so thet'd help lots. I just hope he does go back to SD!.

Speaking of Edge... I wrote a ficlet... almost a year ago... when he had surgery. I was thinking of posting it. It's not quite finished... well, it's finished, just not spit-shined, y'know... but I'm not sure if I should just go ahead with it or store it away with the rest of my unposted stuff. I dunno. I'll go back and read it over again... and ponder more.

Thoughts for 1/31/04:

I haven't been able to write anything for any of my fics. I just don't feel creative at all. I don't even have any new bunnies! None! After watching SD! or Raw, I'm usually at least psyched up and ready to go write a lil more on some fics, but the past week or so... nothing. It's just frustrating. Oh well. I've had longer dryspells than this one.

Taker's coming... and I'll have something to rant on and on about in here once again! Woo! Man, someone should have a camera on me when 'Taker finally returns. Cause I will mark out like hell. When Kane got back after his bicep tear with a new mask and lean figure... well, I was on my knees in the middle of my living room yelling my lungs out for him. Just imagine what I'll be like when 'Taker gets back... lol. Yeah, that should be interesting.

Thoughts for 1/23/04:

No tna ppv this week. Broke.

Not too much going on that I feel like commenting on right now. Well... alright, I finished a fic and finished yet another part of Crossing The Line. Haven't posted it yet, though. Gonna proofread it again tomorrow sometime... then it'll be up. I'm glad. I stopped hating it, lol. Now that I'm able to write more on it, I seem to like it again. I don't think this pairing is very over in the wrestling slash community, though. Oh well. It's over in my own head.

Oh, hey! There's something to rant about! The seeming infatuation with specific pairings and/or characters in quite a bit of the wrestling slash fandom these days. Is it just me, or does anything that does NOT include Randy Orton, Triple H, or HBK get overlooked by readers? That's really a pity, cause there are a helluva lot of great stories out there that contain non-traditional 'it' guys. ... And it seems there's always an 'it' couple or character that everyone and their mommas write or read. Right now it's Randy Orton, about two years ago... Jeff Hardy... and Triple H seems to be going nowhere as wrestling slash's golden child. I don't know about anyone else, but I get tired of 'em, and lately... I've stopped reading most of 'em.

It's not a foregone conclusion that I will skip over the story if it has Trips (whore) in it, though. But if it isn't original... if it's just like every other fic out there... I wont even glance at it. Plus... I can hardly stand whore in the first place. But take the Jeff Hardy phenomenon. I read quite a bit of Jeff Hardy slash, and liked it. And then... he was just so over-used that I couldn't stand to read almost anything with him in it. So it's not just my bias against Whore that makes me sick of him in fics. It's over-exposure.

And the fact that I can't stand the asshole.

Thoughts for 1/15/04:

... And again, went to tna ppv last night. Got a pretty bruise, was splashed by Sandman's beer... got to see Kash sell for Tiny. It was wonderful. I still have the stupid smiley face on my hand that they stamp you with when you go in. Eh. I think it's poisoned with some make-the-people-want-to-come-back-week-after-week drug, cause I spent money that I really and truly shouldn't have to go. But hey, it was worth it.

So, SD! tonight! One of the last few that Benny'll be on (presumably). Kinda sad, cause he'll be leaving Eddie. I smell a fic coming on..... And Edge sould come back to SD! Raw's got enough. They're on the verge of neglecting SD! now. I mean, didn't the WGTT (then Team Angle) supposedly break Edge's neck in a backstage attack? So, there's your first feud. To bad that Benny won't be there to tag with him again.... but Benny's on to greener pastures. Hopefully the World Heavyweight Champoinship-like pastures.

*begs to wrestling gods* Please, please, please let Lance have a WM match this year! Please!

Thoughts for 1/8/04:

Went to nwa-tna's ppv last night. Had fun. 'Twas exactly what I expected it to be... Will go back sometime when I have money to do so. (what with the Royal Rumble and then Wrestlemania coming up, I'm kinda running low on usable money.)

SD! tonight. Can't wait to see more from the Guererro/Angle... uh... angle. *shrugs* Seems like it took a loooong time for Chavo to turn heel, but with Kurt now siding with Chavo.... geesh. Wassupwitdat? Plus.... Benoit-goodness. Always yummie.

Well, time to go see what other kinda trouble I can scare up around here. (read: none whatsoever). 'Till next time.

Thoughts for 1/6/04:

Stevie on RAW!!!! Made my night!!! Not to mention Jerky and Christian making up. Aww..... Plus, random Taker from last years Royal Rumble.

Me = happy!

And... I have a bright and shiny new fic working it's way out of my brain. Slowly. It should be a short one, though, so no interfering with Crossing the Line. :/ I'm not looking for a reason to dump the fic. Really, I'm not.

I just started a LiveJournal. Username = madlikerya. Check it out. It'll prolly be like this lil Thoughts corner here, but... different.

*shrugs* I don't know, either.

Thoughts for 1/2/04:

Well! I was pleasantly surprised by SD! this week. The FBI angle w/ Benoit had a purpose! The Rumble is looking great. ... Other than the Holly/Lesnar title match. But I can deal with that. If Benoit wins... lord, I will mark so hard...

Well, I'm actually making progress on Crossing The Line! Who would've thought... It's turning out to be pretty damn long. I only meant it to be about four or five posts. Looks like it'll be more like seven. Not too big of a deal, but I want it over with.

In other fic news,I am really wanting to stat a fic starring two indy guys. I'm not real sure if I will, cause there really isn't too much to wrap my brain around when it comes to their characters, but I'll try.

Getting closer and closer to 'Taker's return! I'm nervous about how they're going to bring him back. I don't want it to be cheesy or just a throwback to the 'Taker of old. Cause that just wouldn't go over well. Look FORWARD, WWE - not back! Anyways... gotta go get some groceries. (Woo...)

Thoughts for 12/20/03:

What has Chris Benoit done to deserve all the sudden angle changes recently? I can understand changing the angle he's in every month or two, but after a week? Come ON! Not so long ago, he and Kurt were tagging again. Alright, that's a tried and true angle that I haven't tired of yet. Sounds good. But Kurt is injured, and will be out for about 6-8 weeks. Change of angle. All right, fine. Benoit makes the champ tap out @ Survivor Series (?). Alright! if you have to end a good angle abruptly, this is the kind of angle you'd want to end up in! So what do they do? They give the Benoit/Lesnar match away about two weeks later on SD! WTF? Shouldn't they see that as the money-maker that it is and save it for a PPV? (I'm glad they didn't, but still...) So Brock retains the title after a good solid match. Alright, surely they'll book a rematch for the next PPV. ... Right? Wrong. No, Heyman isn't comfortable with Benoit ever getting another title shot, so he's shot down. Angle change. Oi. Now, the FBI? Didn't this angle kinda already happen.... with the FBI betting on Benoit and losing? Is there even a storyline to the current angle? (Seriously, I didn't see SD!, so I don't know.) So, who does that coveted title shot go to? A guy who is far from being over with the fans.... a guy who is recently back from spinal fusion surgery... a guy by the name of Hardcore Holly. Oi again. Where is this all going? If this will all lead to a huge match at Wrestlemania XX, then I am all for it and will eat my words. If this all fizzles out and the creative team just lets it slide... well, I'll be angry. Cause if anyone on the SD! roster deserves something great this year at WM, it is Chris Benoit. Or Eddie Guererro. But that's another story for another day.

< end of rant >

Thoughts for 12/19/03:

Well, I missed most of SD! due to a power outage. Doesn't look like I missed too much. But that doesn't mean I won't be watching Velocity this Saturday night! *shrugs* I'm hopeless.

I really want to write a Stevie fic. Really. I can't help but to want to pair him with Jericho. (Is it just me, or does Jerky look good an anyone's arm?) But the oh-so-elusive plot is yet again just out of reach. Frustrating? Yes. But that's alright. I'll just go write more on Crossing The Line and bash my head into my keyboard at the horrible monotony of it all.

Goodnight, all.

Thoughts for 12/14/03:

Stop the madness! I have too many little plot bunnies gnawing away at my ankles! Too many, I tells ya! I'm struggling to keep my focus on Crossing the Line (I'm too lazy to link to it. Go find it yourself...) even though I tired of writing this fic long ago. Too much like a soap opera for yours truly. Ever written something you can't really stand? Maybe a Mary Sue or Marty Stu... but even though you hate it, you treat it with preferrence? No? Me either. There are aspect of Crossing the Line that I do like, but overall... I'm just sick of it. Maybe that's because I've been writing it since May. Hmm.

On to brighter topics... I am really high on Stevie Richards. I get a real kick out of watching him in his role of GM of Stevie Night Heat... even though he hasn't really been involved in this angle actively in quite some time. But I love to watch him. If they'd just give him a chance... Did anyone else just love him in RTC? I hardly saw any of it, but I loved it. He was quite beefy then, wasn't he? He got decent heel heat then, but I can really see him as a face. No, really! Like a Hate to Love, love to hate kinda guy. Like Kurt. Just... in a different way. Have him play heel, but really let him go. Have him WIN matches CONSISTENTLY (not exclusively, tho, of course), have him play off of Victoria... cause damn, but those two are perfect matches, and give him a damn mic! Give the boy a little slack on that tight leash you've got him on, people! Let him go, and see how far he can run with the ball. I think they'd be pleasantly surprised.

I blame this episode of 'Thoughts' on NyQuil.

Thoughts for 12/02/03:

Well! Raw surprised the hell out of me. Had no clue Foley was gonna show up, very glad to see Storm back in action, and pleased that Y2J is still a heel. Ahh.. life is good. Kane is really getting up there... one on one with Goldberg next week.... very nice! I swear, if he doesn't have that damn title by May....

Today has been a day filled with talk of wrestling from times past. Neither of my parents were really big wrestling marks as kids, but their families were! So, by proxy.... but they did watch wrestling, so they talked Jackie Fargo, Tojo Yamomoto, Tex Riley, and so on... with me. It's always nice to hear about what the product I so love now used to be like. I want to get my hands on some tapes from back then. Found a site where I might be able to! Woo!

Also on talking wrestling... I met a lady at the grocery store earlier (about 12 am) and, incidently, I was wearing my prized 'Taker shirt that I so happily took off of The Salvation Army's hands. She commented on the shirt, and asked if I was a fan of 'Taker. A *fan*? Hmm... lemme think. Heh. Well, she and I talked for a bit, a little new ('Taker, SCSA, NWA-TNA) a little old (more Jackie Fargo and Tex Riley). It was just great to find a common bond with someone whom I'd usually assume I have nothing in common with. (She's about 30 years older than me) I might just start making more nocturnal visits to the old grocery store!

Speaking of nocturnal visits.... my bed is calling me. 'Night!

Thoughts for 11/28/03:

Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? I've been very lazy, so I haven't done a whole hell of a lot of anything, and that includes updating this site or writing any more on Crossing the Line. I need a good ass-kicking.

Anxiously awaiting 'Taker's return (to the darkside, or to the ring? Both.) I was hoping he'd get buried at SS. It was just the kind of push he needed to let the darkside take over once again. Damn, I sound pathetic. But I can't help it. I wasn't watching wrestling between '92-'00, so I kinda missed the whole deadman gimmick (I did watch him in '91 - though in a somewhat limited capacity.) That's really been a sorespot with me. I didn't get to see 'Taker in his 'prime'. I'd love to get my hands on some tapes from about '96-'98. I have some PPVs from then, but I'd love to get some Raw tapes. It would just make my day.

Well, I would comment on some of what's been going on wrestling-wise lately, but I can't really recall what's happened. I know Crash died... and not a word was said about him on WWE tv. (Unless it was on Velocity or Heat) That pissed me off. He was working for the company not four months before he died, and his passing isn't even recognized. Just not right.

But... I have nothing else to say right now, so I'm gone.

Thoughts for 10/30/03:

SD! kinda let me down tonight... but there were a few nice parts. Eddie out there talking was a great segment, and I really felt for him. Takes guts to get out there and talk about something so real and personal as addiction and recovery. My hat is off to him.

Kurt and Chris just work so well together! I love the tension between 'em when they aren't in the ring as well as the fluidity in the ring! These are the kinda guys we can get behind! No huge gimmick needed. Just two guys who more or less hate each other, but also have respect for one another. It just works on so many levels.

And now for the comic relief. Tazz + chocolate = Yum. Very glad to see Tazz get dunked and also glad to see that he shared that experience (though on a much smaller scale) with Michael Cole.

Bill DeMott has retired. That one took me by surprise. I figured he was out with an injury. That happens all the time. But I figured he'd be back on Velocity soon enough, kicking nameless jobbers' asses. So when I heard he'd broken his neck and decided to call it quits in the ring, it really hit me. These guys need to slow down. Take care of themselves. Fans will just have to accept the changes. ... But, I am glad Bill's gonna be an announcer on Velocity! Hopefully, he'll do a good job and keep us entertained from behind the announcer's table much like Tazz has since he hung up the boots. For once in a long time, I'm actually looking forward to Velocity.

On the fic front, I have started posting Crossing The Line on wwfsml and wwe-sfo. Gotten a great response from people, given that this is just the first part, and has very little meat to it so far. I've also been writing more and more for it. I'd say it's about 2/3rds of the way done. Woo me!

Thoughts for 10/23/03:

Best damn SD! I've seen since Kurt returned from his neck injury. Started out strong with good ole Paul Heyman being brought in as the GM of SD! Good. Could be very interesting. Taker came out... to my utter delight... and was wearing a nice vest which tended to blow open a bit showin' off the chest/abs. Again, Rya like.

Uh oh.... uh oh!!!! Kurt and Benoit... at it again! Ahh.. these writers are after my own heart! My first wrestling fic was Kurt/Chris (Hard, Fast, and Often. Check it out.) I marked hard when they came to the ring as tag partners. Wondered if Tazz and Cole would even mention the fact that they could hardly stand each other not so very long ago. Took a while... and a chairshot, but they did. Put Kurt and Chis in the ring together, and it's magic. You just can't go wrong with 'em.

Ok, enough of me fawning over Kurt and Chris. Scotty 2 Hottie!!! Man, it's been a long time, hasn't it? Last I remember seeing him, A-Train (then Albert) turned on him. Very glad to see him back in action, and glad to have one of the most ridiculous moves ever back on WWE television.

Alrighty, taken too long of a break from Taker. Taker in the skybox, threatening Vince, dissing Sable... ah, joy.

Poor Eddie. Losing two titles within a week. Reminds me of when Kane had the tag titles w/ Hurricane and the Intercontinental belt at the same time... only to lose the IC title to HHH in a match I still cannot bring myself to watch to this day, and losing the Tag belts to... was it La Resistance? I think so. Any way... What was my point? Oh, right. Felt really bad for Eddie, but good for me. I love angst.

This is getting pretty lengthy, so I'm gonna say a lil bit more about Taker, then go... Buried Alive, baby! Survivor Series is looking up... even if Vince and Shane McMahon will both be in semi-main event matches. (Come on, Vince! We get it. Disgruntled employees are out to kick the bosses' ass! We were over that storyline in 1999.) Think maybe those 'traumatic events' Taker has been alluding to could be adding up? Getting screwed out of the title, (possibly) being buried alive at the very PPV he debuted on (yeah, so I'm grasping at straws. Leave me alone.) Maybe come Wrestlemania, we'll see a glimpse of the darker side of the Deadman.

Just a thought!
