2004 Tournament of Roses
My Trip to the Rose Bowl:

Wed. Jan 31:
My trip began early in the morning as I flew from Detroit to Chicago to Dallas to Burbank.  Finally reaching the west coast at noon pacific time, my cousin picked Matt and I up at the airport and drove us down to UCLA to pick up our tickets for the game.  Our drive included a ride through Beverly Hills and Hollywood.  After we checked into our room at the Burbank Hilton (also the same hotel the football team stayed at the night before the game) Mark came by and we all hung out in Hollywood and walked around.  At 9:00 PT I talked with Erika and wished her a Happy New Year and then feel asleep.

Thurs. Jan 1
Finally the big day arrived.  I left for Pasadena at 9:00 AM even though the game didn't start till 2:00 PM.  We walked around and took plenty of pictures and bought lots of souvenirs.  The Rose Bowl as a stadium is beautiful and the San Gabriel mountains behind it make for gorgeous scenery.  The game started off with the playing of our national anthem accompanied by a card-stunt and a fly-by of three stealth fighters.  Though the game itself was dissappointing for the obvious fact that we LOST, I greatly enjoyed my time at the event.  We left for our hotel and enjoyed the rest of the evening watching the Orange Bowl and eating pizza.

Fri. Jan 2
We departed for Detroit early in the morning again and eveything went according to plan.  Our four hour layover in Dallas was not as bad as expected.  Finally at 9:00 EST I arrived back in DTW.
