market for the concept of an invisible man. It all started with the book written by H. G. Wells called, (simply enough) The Invisible Man. Following the books debut in 1897 it became one of the highest sold books that year! In an attempt to duplicate its prior success, there had been feature movies such as The Invisible Man, and Hollow Man, which hardly brought in the millions that their producers had expected, twice before that, they had even tried to launch it for television. Each time the producers tried to create a series based on a man who had the power to become invisible, the series didnt make it into the second season. In fact, after each cancellation the series was discarded and forgotten about, like a month old plate of leftover pastrami on wry.
This seemed to be the end for this marvelous concept thought up by Mr. Wells, but then in the year 2000, a man named Matt Greenburg thought up a visionary masterpiece that would come to be the longest lived invisible man story thus far.
It would be the story of Darien Fawks. A con turned CIA when his brother and his team of top notch scientists made him an offer he couldnt refuse. You see Darien had just been put away for life on a third strike offense, and his brother had been working on a project to bend light around objects. They needed a new test subject and Darien seemed like the perfect man for the job. They got him out of prison and he became their little lab monkey. Everything started out fine, but then it all went wrong when one of the scientists decided to run off with the data and sell it over the black market. This betrayal leads to the cruel murder of Dariens brother and the loss of lab, along with the only copy of the glands blueprints. Darien barely manages to escape, and if you think that isnt enough there is still another half a pilot to go! Not to mention the remaining 2 seasons.
Unfortunately, because the season was canceled soon after its second season, therefore, to see this amazing creation of awe inspiring genius, you must do one of two things. The cheapest and easiest of them is to voice your opinion to the Universal Studios Home Video telling by signing a petition for the release of The Invisible Man for region 1, or the . The easiest way to do this is to sign one or both of the petitions at http://imaniacs.org/main.htm. The other (and much more expensive) way is to go online, scout out a reign 2 DVD player, buy that, then get the European version of season one on DVD. I have personally done both of these and highly encourage you to do the same for the sake of this magnificently good TV Series. |
