Allysulia-Patriarch-Afrin
Current Leader of the Indosyne Union
Patriarch Afrin can best be described as a 'legend in progress'. His entire life has been played out under the spotlight of Elephande's legend, and yet, he never seemed to mind that.
Afrin is the son of Elephande and Elida, born on Indosyne in the year 722 of the Third Strife. He was one of the first born into the new generation that would figure so heavily in the final battle at Chilaquand. Afrin's figure seems somewhat larger than his contemporaries, mainly because of his bloodline, that of Nephic, second son of Isteanoc. But it was Afrin's abilities, not his appearance, that would win him fame in the years ahead.
In the year 722 of the Third Strife, Major Afrin set out with a small contingent on a journey later labeled Afrin's Test. In his group, there were such illustrious names as Suligan, his second in command, Goraban, and Akula. They journeyed to Weyard, a far-off planet, and in the city of Anegon, their skills would be honed.
In Anegon, Afrin met the first members of the Company of Anegon, and helped them to defend their city against a fierce assault. The six members of the Company then set off back to Reldima, where Afrin was there honored: For him, Elephande had commissioned a new herd, bearing the name of his and Afrin's forebearer, Suliantig.
Three years later, Patriarch Afrin made a preemptive strike on the hostile world of Ashlinder, and battle erupted between himself and Admiral Gladia-Neflon of the Dreg, sparking a short but heated conflict.
Afrin was finally forced from Ashlinder, but Gladia Neflon and Mastredocil followed him to the outlying world of Balecroft, where Afrin's herd was based. For six months Afrin was alone and besieged, warding off constant attacks by the Dreg menace. Aid began to trickle in, but it seemed that all of Indosyne couldn't stop this army, bolstered by the forces of Supreme Commander Sulit-Aladan of the Dreg and his enormous forces.
However, when all seemed lost, help unlooked for arrived: Afrin's uncle, Elephade Zambiandë, once considered lost for eternity, brought with him enough troops to turn the tide With Suisane-Patriarch-Suligan effectively reversing the Dreg blockade into one of their own, a final strike by the Indosyne Union was now possible. Led by the Company of Anegon, Afrin led his forces into storming the Dreg camp and capturing the three highest-ranking Dreg leaders: Sulit-Aladan, Gladia-Neflon, and Mastredocil.
After the Treaty of Gradiac, Afrin also befriended the three commanders of the Dreg, adding them to a vast network of allies that he would soon make use of. After the second battle at Anegon, Afrin returned to help dedicate a memorial to the Company of Anegon. Soon afterward, he was named Leader of the Indosyne Union, after Elephande's resignment.
As Leader of the IU, Afrin had a lot on his plate. Almost immediatly, reports came in about the advancing Cladlen. He deployed most of the Patriarchs of the IU into various combat and holding positions around the sector. At a council in Zancron, he made his plan known. He sent Suilt-Aladan and the Dreg to assault a vital supply point for the Cladlen, while the Company of Anegon infiltrated Haldiar, Cladlenia's capital.
Afrin and much of the Indosyne Union's armies travelled to Chilaquand, where they met the Cladlen. Afrin held his position valiently, even after Elephande and Zambiandë had departed. He worked quikly and efficently with High General Akula, an old friend, and with Patriarch Suligan and Allysuntis.
The Cladlen were defeated there, and Afrin was left to deal with the aftermath of the war. He was saddened when abuptly, a year after Chilaquand, his father Elephande left for the Realm of the High Elder, along with the spirits that had guided him for so long.
Afrin has now fully come into his own as a leader and a legend. His son, Neimeis, is headstrong, even at so young an age, and will probably be a fine leader. Although his old advisors are all gone, he is helped by great names from his own generation. He took leadership of his herd of birth, Allysulia, and gave Suliantig's leadership to a distant relation and old friend, Akula. His cousin Allysuntis is there, as well as Goraban and Suligan. It is now their names which inspire legends in the hearts of Indosyne.
