The first of our family to immigrate to America were three children of an English Quaker farmer named EDWARD WOODWARD. They were; Edward's 1st. son Robert age 44, his wife & son Richard age 14; Edward's 2nd. son Richard age 51, his wife Jane age 44 & their sons William age 17 & Richard age 14 & daughter Martha age 11; and Edward's daughter Elizabeth age 34 (unmarried). Edward Woodward had another daughter Hannah. [She died in England in 1686 at age 25, just prior to the family immigrating]. Hannah was married to Thomas Eavenson. Thomas, along with two of their son's, Ralph age 5 & Richard age 3, accompanied the Woodward families to America. Thomas Eavenson would prove to be an important addition to the group in that he would later re-marry to Elizabeth Woodward.
We are descended from the 2nd. son "Richard" & his wife "Jane".
It is interesting to note that the move to America would involve paying for passages, buying storage goods as well as the purchase of lands, so we can safely assume that our earliest ancestors were probably 'families of means' for the time.(contact the author for more history)
