The girl ran. No one had ever given her a name, it was always girl, sis, or kid. She had to find her brother - they had been together as long as she could remember, she didn't know if he was her real brother but he sure acted like one. As she got closer and closer to the next town she began to slow down. Small villages tended to blame small, running children for stealing things. The girl started looking around as her stomach began to growl much more loudly than usual, she was a little cold and really hungry now - she hadn't eaten since that nice old lady had given her a crust of bread. Her clothes, if you could call them clothes, closer to rags, they were even more tattered than when she escaped the auction compound.

"You poor thing, you look so cold." a kind motherly looking woman crouched down in front of her.

The girl just gave the woman a cute wide-eyed look and nodded, her stomach then loudly growled in a timely fashion. Well this act had got her food and sometimes even clothes in the past, it was worth a try.

"And hungry too from the sound of things." the woman gave her a kind look and beckoned the girl to follow her.

"What's your name child?"

"Don't got none." the girl replied.

The woman winced, she couldn't even give her husband the heir he had always wanted and people were abandoning sweet children like this little girl. Then on impulse the woman began asking more probing questions.

"What about you parents, child?"

"Don't got none."

"Would you like parents, child?"

"
I guess."

"Well dear, here we are."

The woman and the child had stopped at an okanamiyaki cart. The woman quickly stepped behind it and started cooking. Very soon the girl began to smell some delicious smells. Soon after the girl was sitting on the ground with sauce smeared all over her face from the okanamiyaki she was eating. A man carrying some heavy boxes arrived back at the stand. The woman quickly confronted him about the little girl who seemed to enjoy her okanamiyaki so much.

"She is an orphan, we could adopt her and make her your heir."

"But she is a girl."

"She has nowhere else to go the poor child doesn't even have a name."

The man paused and started to think. He did need an heir, and he wasn't getting any younger. On the other hand the child was a girl - he needed a strong son to continue the school. He glanced up to see his wife glaring, errr – encouraging him to come to a decision with her eyes, and started sweating a bit. Well a girl can marry a strong husband, a girl was better than no heir, the fact that a permanent couch sleeping arrangement was likely if he didn't agree did not affect his judgment at all, nope not one little bit.

"OK, we will call her Ukyo though."

"Yes, Ukyo Kuonji."

Meanwhile, Souichi Hibiki was wondering what to do with the child he had just he had just picked up. The boy seemed intent on wandering off to look for something. For a young child he seemed very intelligent if single minded.

"What's your name, son?"

"Aint never had one."

A little perturbed at that response, Souichi gently grabbed the boys shoulder and spun him around so that he could look him in the eyes (well, gently for a Hibiki). The boy stopped looking around and looked up at Souichi sullenly. The man feeling sorry for the boy, thought he would try to help him well I'm going to stay lost anyway - damn that technique, father died before he could show me how to master it.

"Well what are you looking for?"

"My sister she's still back there."

"Is she smart?"

"Yeah, real smart - but she still needs me to take care of her."

"If she's smart, she won’t be there anymore."

"huh?"

"She will have already left."

"Do you want me to help you look for her?"

"Yes."

Souichi smiled at the boy, he is strong for his age and would make an excellent heir. Perhaps if we can find his sister she will help him train. Unwittingly the boy had been seen and grabbed for Hibiki school of martial arts.

"OK, then but first we have to give you a name. How does Ryoga sound?"

"OK I guess."

"Ryoga, how would you like to learn the Hibiki style of martial arts while we

look for your sister?"

"What's that?"

"Well....."

Genma had just finished putting the finishing touches on his masterpiece, this was his solution to getting the boy trained without his useless sister. The seppuku contract was something that would ensure that he had full control over the boy, and his wife could not do anything if he played his cards right. Folding the document up he headed outside where he could see Ranma practicing alone, such a good boy practicing all the time.

"Ranma, I have a new game for you to play."

"What is it Pops?"

"I bought some ink, how would you like to finger paint?"

"Yeah!"

Genma produced a blank piece of paper and some ink from his gi. Ranma delightedly smeared ink all over his hands and began making finger and hand prints all over the paper. As he did this, Genma watched to see when Ranmas palm prints appeared the most legible and quickly switched the blank paper for the Seppuku contract. Ranma obligingly made a very clear handprint near the bottom of the contract. Having achieved his goal Genma switched the papers again for a clean sheet of paper. Ranma continued finger painting completely oblivious to what had just occurred. Soon after Genma left with a grin on his face Ranko came speeding around the corner.

"What are you doing Rammie?"

"Finger painting."

"
Can I finger paint too?"

"Sure Ko-Chan."

Both children sat innocently beside each other finger painting.

Tenchi swung his bokken at his grandfather in the sword forms that he had been taught, meanwhile his grandfather danced just out of his reach. Katsuhito could see that Tenchi's form had improved over the past year, although the boy still needed constant badgering to maintain his training, although the lure of the keys to the cave did seem to motivate the boy. The existence of the twins had not been discussed since their disappearance, as if by some unspoken rule. In fact it was as if Tenchi had blocked the fact that he had a brother and a sister from his mind. Katsuhito thought that this was for the best as they had either passed away or would be never found.

A five-year-old Ami Mizuno sat at home by herself reading a high school science textbook. She was extremely lonely, the other students tended to avoid her at school because she was so intelligent. This meant that she could not invite any friends over to keep her company while her mother was at work. With a sigh she returned to her text book, if I study more maybe my mother will keep me company she thought with her five year old logic. Hence a lifetime habit of studying was born.

Genma snuck into Ranma's room it was the middle of the night and Nodoka was sleeping soundly in her own room. Ranma and Ranko had been given their own  rooms when they began attending school. Stopping suddenly Genma listened as Ranko stirred in the next room and then seemed to go back to sleep. Creeping over to Ranmas bed, Genma quietly woke him up and put a finger on his lips.

"Ranma be quiet and come quickly." whispered Genma.

"Where are we going pops?" Ranma softly replied.

"On a training trip to make you a better martial artist."

"Really?
Cool, I'm coming."

Ranma followed Genma out into the backyard where two large packs awaited. Genma gestured at Ranma and then the pack on the left. Ranma ran over to it and then struggled to lift it onto his back. Genma shrugged on his own pack and they both quickly walked away from the house, heading off on their training trip, unaware that they had been seen leaving.

Ranko had been unable to sleep so she was about to head into her brothers room when she heard whispering coming from it. putting her eye to the hole that her brother and her had secretly drilled in the wall she saw her father whispering to her brother - but when she heard "training trip" she perked up. If her brother was going on a training trip then so was she. Recently she had been playing games with her brother where they had both been on a training trip having adventures. This was why she had a packed duffle bag in the corner of her room. Grabbing the duffle bag she crept after Ranma and her father. Following them down to the yard she saw Ranma shrug on a pack that was bigger than he was. As Genma and Ranma gave a last quick glance at the house she ducked behind a bush. I'll follow them and join them later, thinking that she didn’t want pops to send me home again.

The next morning Nodoka came down to cook breakfast. She didn't remember her husband coming home last night, well that's normal for him she thought with a sigh he was probably out drinking with Soun again. Just then she spied a note taped to the table, curious she picked it up.

"Gone on a training trip with the boy, will make him into a man amongst men, Genma."

Page two of the note was the Seppuku contract. Quickly she ran up the stairs to Ranmas room, only to find his bed unmade and empty. She ran into Ranko's room to see an identical scene. An anguished scream could be heard for miles around, but by then Genma and the children were long gone.

Authors Note:

You wonder why Nodoka was so upset after she had given her approval for the trip - well it was too soon and she wasn't expecting a Seppuku contract. Please R R, any ideas will be greatly appreciated and you any match up ideas welcome.

Ranma Ukyo 1

Ranko Ryoga 1

Hmmmm….. I guess I’ll leave the matchup as a surprise then – we have lots of action to go before the matchup.
