May 19, 2007

Friday, May 18, Mandy and I went into Raleigh to have P.H.'s lawyer, Richard Gamble, finallize the construction loan. Mandy signed about 50 thousand papers, since she is the loan borrower. I had a few papers that I also co-signed for... like the deed. The Rackleys were able to finallize their loan on Thursday, but there was a bit of a mishap with ours. There was a bit of an issue with sending our information by way of computer... But it was all in order by Friday.
So, now it is official... even though our home is still in the works, we can do what we want on the land! It is still unclear when clearing will take place... I am writing this update on Saturday, and they hope to start clearing possibly Monday or Tuesday. It is never really clear how things get done. The scheduling is not always 100%.
It may be easy for me to do this type of update, but even before this construction closing, there were many other steps that were taken. We were able to customize our homes how we wished from the steps to the carpet... to the kitchen to the roofing... and so on... And then just recently, we were finishing up on our construction loan... Now the fun begins watching the contractors' crew go to work on the land! We hope to keep update with the process with pictures!

We first began our home search when Manders and I decided to put our rent money to better usage. This old house was suckin up our income and we plan to put it to smarter and more efficient use. So that started it all, and now we are just playing the waiting game. We show up at P.H. (Palm Harbor) many times to show everyone the house... and that keeps us going. So it is coming down to a few months: we are planning being in around August. We are making our first mortgage payment then... that and we won't have this house much longer!
Manders took a few pictures of the 'for show' house and I plan to post a few here and there... and hopefully if I get the next site up, I plan to keep a webjournal update of the home process.... The PalmHarbor link above shows the scaling and layout of our Fullest Home. And there are a few other goodies on the site, also.

The land is outside of Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina. It isn't all too far from where we live now. It is off of a busy Route 42... but it shouldn't be too bad. Travelling here and there isn't as far as we expected either. Maybe a few minutes give or take. Both Horner and Rackley properties are 1 acre, and they are more lengthy than the average plot. It is different, but not in such a bad way. The homes we have are more lengthy to begin, so that helps a lot in that department. We have a few pics taken from our visit to plot out the land. I also will be posting them as time goes on too... The Route 42 link above shows coordinates to where our pads will be.... Have some fun playin around with zoom and area locations...
