Joseph P.
Shaughnessy
April 30, 1941 - September 20, 2000
Joe died after suffering a heart attack on the morning of
Wednesday, September 20, 2000. He was married to high school
sweetheart Linda Smith who graduated with the Class of 1960.
This information from a July 18th e-mail Joe sent to Dave
Lybrook:
We are in Shelby, Ohio. I took retirement
from Essex and started a second career in computer repair etc.
It is something I always wanted to do - work in something I really
love. I got hooked when the first PC came out.
We have five grandchildren - one on the way. Then
"it" and the parents are going to Japan for two years
with Honda. So that will be a bummer.
Our youngest just graduated from Bowling Green and
just signed a contract
to teach in Painesville, Ohio. So we are finally finished with
college payments. We had 22+ years of kids in college. We have
put five though school. It was rough at the time but now it is
time for mom and dad.
Both are looking forward to formal retirement
- although I really doubt if either will fully retire. Just have
to do something I guess to keep the cobwebs away.
Linda went to work about 10 years ago just to keep
from going nuts around the house. After raising five kids she
was wanting to talk to someone outside the house. She is an insurance
agent in local agency - home and auto. Really likes the work
and has a lot of "funny" stories to tell about customers
wanting to file claims. Really hard to believe that people are
that "dumb". She is a very proud Grandma and it shows
too. ..... Joe
