OBITUARY Newspaper and date unknown: Willie Copelan Sr. ABBEVILLE, S.C. -- Willie Marion Copelan Sr., 86, of Route 1, Lowndesville Highway, died Thursday, April 22, 1993, at Self Memorial Hospital. He was born in Greensboro, Ga., and was retired employee of Milliken Textiles, Abbeville plant, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Surviving are sons, Willie M. Copelan Jr. of Cornelia, Ga., James E., Ray D. and Charles F. Copelan of Abbeville, Ronnie Copelan of Simpsonville; sisters, Eloise Sidwell of Apalachee, Ga., Annette Wiley of Rutledge, Ga., and Iva Doggett of Duluth, Ga.; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was the widower of Estelle Welborn Copelan and was a son of the late Alseith and Hattie Ball Copelan. Services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. Wendell Rhodes; burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Saturday. The family is at the homes of his sons, James Copelan, Route 1, Lowndesville Highway, Abbeville and at the home of Ray Copelan, Route 5, Whip-O-Will Road, Abbeville. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church or to the Abbeville Rescue Squad.
