Note that two of his children, Sally Elam and Mary Ann Elam, are both my great great great grandmothers. Sally married my great great great grandfather, William Gordon, and Mary Ann married my great great great grandfather, Peter Baugh (III). Sally's child Jane Gordon married Mary Ann's child, Peter Baugh (IV). *indicates a direct ancestor.

Notes:
The Elam Family Bible: "Memorandom: This My Book I Give Unto my Grand Son James Elam son of Richard Elam, October 2 1770." First name of signature is unreadable but it could only have been James (Elam). Anomaly: James Elam, son of Richard Elam was not born until the 1780s; however, the book was reportedly in poor condition, badly stained, with portions unreadable. The date of 1770 was possibly mis-read, or a transcription typo, and the correct date was likely 1790, or a date closer to the death of the senior James Elam.
