Nettie Wingard Baugh

OBITUARY

The Madisonian Feb. 20, 1969:

   Mrs. Nettie S. Copelan, 89, died Monday, February 17, at Lynn Haven Nursing Home, Gray after a long illness. Born in Greene County, Mrs. Copelan was the widow of William Alcester Copelan. Funeral services were held at Vicker's Chapel on Wednesday, February 19, at two o'clock. The Rev. John Henderson and Rev. Lee Hunter officated. Burial was in Greensboro.
   Survivors include four sons, Willie Copelan of Abberville, South Carolina, J. C. Copelan, of Abberville, South Carolina; Julian Copelan, of Columbia, South Carolina, Carey Copelan of Mansfield; three daughters, Mrs. Alfonza Sidwell, Apalachee, Mrs. Robert Wiley of Rutledge and Mrs. Ira Doggett, of Decatur, nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
   Vickers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Typos in the article are not corrected. Nettie S. Copelan is Nettie Wingard Baugh-Copelan. She died in Gray, GA, in Jones County, after being moved from a nursing home in Morgan County because of illness. She died shortly after the move.
In the survivors section, Abberville is Abbeville; Mrs. Alfonza Sidwell is Eloise Copelan-Sidwell; Mrs. Robert Wiley is Annette Copelan-Wiley; and Mrs. Ira Doggett is Ivor Victoria Copelan-Doggett. 'Ira' is a typo.
