As of 12 Sep. 1918 Thomas was a minister living with his wife Johnnie Ethel Morgan at 2206 E. 24th, Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN; he was tall, of medium build, with gray eyes and dark hair.

Ethel listed as a widow in the 1930 Federal Census, St Petersburg, Pinellas, FL (indexed Johnnie E. Morgan); son John C., daughter Virginia, and mother-in-law (listed as Mary P. Morgan) living in the household.

The Copelan Bible lists Ethel's death as 1932 or 1933; however, Georgia death records show the death of a Johnnie E. Morgan, age 67, on 7 Sep. 1946 in Floyd County, Certificate 18302.
