History of RWC

Welcome to a new addition here on the RWC site, the History section. Here we give an extensive background on every section of the RWC. We'll start with the owner and operator, and eventually work our way around to everyone.

In the Beginning.....

Rick Bergeron, aka Florence Fernandez, has been a wrestling fan since day 1. I can personally attest to this kid's absolute over abundance of knowledge about the sport of wrestling myself. It's absolutely mind boggling, but at the same time sad. Just kidding with you Rick. Anyways, the idea for RWC popped up in Rick's mind around the 8th grade. So, along with cousin Jesse Higgins (Jim Buckley, Max Voltage, Tito Latino), Buddy Thing (Bizsnatch, Hugo Latino), Time Yeargeau (Melee), Josh Duchemin (The Robber), and Gordy (Uhhh......himself!!!) put on Spring Supreme on April 26, 1999. It was a beginning, and more would soon come from this small but humble start.

A Whole World Away.....

20 minutes away, another group of kids was growing up on wrestling. One in particular, was wrestling fanatic. Bill Wolff (Jamal, Renton Cross) grew up with the classic WWF and aspired to WWF greatness some day. He would wrestle with his father on the living room floor, and this is where he learned both the art of wrestling illusion, and the very real pain that goes along with it. In 1997, a small group of 3 kid, Bill, and two friends formed a small wrestling troop that met on a weekly basis. They wrestled for many months on mattresses inside of a house, but soon found a new companion. Nick Maniatis (Combustion, The Kid) soon joined the four kids and they wrestled through 1997 into 1998, when they were forced to shut down due to a move by one of the participants. Over the lull in action, Nick and Bill grew to become friends, a relationship that would come in handy later on. In Fall of 1999, an article appeared in "The Talon", the Exeter High School Newspaper, entitled "Glen gets Nosey about RWC". It captured Bill's attention, and he caught Buddy's name. It just so happened that the two shared a Math class. Buddy was initially very cold, which turned Bill off on the whole experience. Feeling dejected, Bill slumped along for about a day or so, until he bumped into Nick who mentioned that a few guys were getting together to form a wrestling league of their own. They called it HCW, and it first met in October of 1999 on a small trampoline. A couple of names are forgettable, but one that remains is Mike Pottle (Prime). The HCW continued on the trampoline for quite some time...

In the meantime, Buddy and Bill began to speak on a rare occasion, and then more often, Bill also ran into Jesse from time to time. They arranged to have Bill meet Rick on Dec. 11th at Jesse's house. Bill went there and waited outside for about 30 minutes, not sure what to expect inside. He finally went in, was given a brief knowledge test, and was allowed in. Soon afterwards, Bill invited Jesse to come view the HCW, and he was somewhat impressed. He invited them all to come up to the next meeting. So, Mike Bill, Nick, and Bill's longtime friend and neighbor Shane Lovett (The Impaler) trucked up to RWC where they were met by the harsh reality that wrestling does hurt...a lot. After a four way match, the four new comers walked away sore and tired, but with a new perspective.

They have now become an integral part of RWC, and have brought yet another member, brendan Hildreth (Cryme) in with them.

Who knows what the future hold for RWC. We urge everyone to watch the new 2001 season unfold, because the wrestling is going to better, faster, and more exciting than ever. And, WE HAVE A RING =P !!!!
