Both men started out very well in this contest with a nice opening series leading up to a vicious clothesline from Fernandez that put Cross on the mat. Fernandez then walked all over him...LITERALLY!!! Working him over with a number of submission holds, Fernandez capped it off with a non-chalant Overhead Toss.

Cross mounted a slight comeback with numerous shots to the back of the head. He snapped Fernandez down with a textbook Vertical Suplex, then dropped two succesive elbows which garnered him a two count.

Fernandez came back again with a vicious Elbow Drop to the abdomen on Cross. He worked him over with yet more submission holds including a Single Crab. Fernandez tossed Cross into the ropes and went for a Cross Body, but Renton ducked in time and Fernandez went sailing to the outside. Cross turned around......just in time to catch a top rope forearm from Fernandez. The first pin attempt was bridged out of by Cross, who then got his feet kicked out from under him. He then managed to stand up out of the second pin attempt, only to be tossed clear across the ring with a release Northern Lights Suplex.

Cross reversed an Irish Whip and charged in with a shoulder. He then Spread Eagled fernandez in the corner and nailed a Running Drop Kick to the groin. After pulling him out, Cross went to put him away with his version of the "Kryptonite Krunch", but Fernandez managed to Sunset Flip Cross out of it, only for a two count. Cross then dropped a leg in the EXTREMELY lower abdomen and followed it up with a vicious Pump Handle Slam.

Fernandez then kneed Cross in the midsection and drove him into the mat with a Facebuster. He applied a sleeper hold on Cross that almost put him out. Unsuccesful, Fernandez then backed Cross into the corner, lifted up his shirt (not a pretty sight =P) and chopped the hell out of Cross. Cross, angered, head butted fernandez like a goat in the midsection, backed him into the corner, and absolutely wailed on him with some vicious chops and elbows. Whipping Fernandez across, Cross came out only to be shoved back into the corner. He stumbled out of the corner.....AND RIGHT INTO THE SUPREME KICK FROM FERNANDEZ!!! Florence covered for the 3 count and a decisive victory over the WORLD CHAMP!!!
