Stanton Thayer Brown

Stanton T. Brown was born in Independence, Missouri on January 31, 1926 the son of Ephraim and Ina Barnett Brown. He was graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri 1943.

He was joined in marriage to Shirley Elaine Johnson ( Johnnie) on October 28, 1945 and they are the proud parents of four sons namely Stanton T. II, J. Michael, Timothy W., David B. and one daughter Barbara E. Wiliker and are extremely proud of thirteen grandchildren.

RWB Stanton served in the U.S. Army of occupation in Zama, Japan 1946-47.

He was a plastering contractor with his father and two brothers for eighteen years. He is an ordained minister, Priesthood office High Priest, in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Served as Pastor of the Buckner Congregation for three years.

In the civic field Stanton Brown has served on the Jackson County Election Board and served as the Assistant Chief Clerk. He has been the Treasurer of Buckner Senior Citizens, Inc. since 1978 and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Lee?s Summit, Missouri. He is now serving as an elected member of the Silver Haired Legislature from Eastern Jackson County

RWB Brown was raised in Buckner Lodge Number 501 A.F.& A.M. in 1954 and served as Worshipful Master of that Lodge in 1961 and is the present Secretary of Buckner Lodge.

In the Grand Lodge of Missouri, RWB Brown was appointed as District Deputy Grand Lecturer from 1967 through 1972 when he was appointed as the Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Missouri and served as Grand Lecturer for twenty years and now hold the title of Grand Lecturer Emeritus.

He is a member of Buckner Chapter Number 280 of the Order of the Eastern Star and served with Johnnie (she being Worthy Matron) as Worthy Patron in 1963 again thirty years later in 1993 and again in 2000 with Johanna Baker.

He is also a Past Master of the Missouri Lodge of Research (1981).

Companion Brown is a member of Independence Chapter No. 12 R.A.M. and served as High Priest in 1995. He served as a Grand Chaplain of the Grand Royal Arch Masons of Missouri and serving on the Jurisprudence Committee of that body and a member and officer in the Order of the High Priesthood. He is a member of Independence Council No. 49 Cryptic Masons and served as the Illustrious Master in 1993. In the Grand Council he was elected Grand Captain of the Guard in St. Joseph Missouri in May 2001 and he has and is now serving on the Jurisprudence Committee. Also he is a past Thrice Illustrice Master in the Order of the Silver Trowel.

Sir Knight Brown is a member of Palestine Commandery No. 17 and served as its Eminent Commander in 1995. In the Grand Commandery of Missouri has served as Grand Prelate. Was elected and installed as Presedent of the Past Commanders Association of Missouri. He served the Independence York Rite Bodies as Treasurer for sixteen years and a office he now holds. He was honored in April 1997 by the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the United States of America with the Title of Knight Commander of the Temple.

He is a member of the Scottish Rite in the Kansas City Valley, served several years as Chaplain and is at the present time Senior Warden in the Lodge of Perfection and has been honored by the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of the Southern Masonic Jurisdiction with the rank and title of Knight Commander Court of Honor in 1989 and on October 4, 1999 was elected to receive the honor and rank 33rd degree. He is also a member of Ararat Shrine Temple and a member of the Past Masters Club of that Temple.

He is also a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill and the Masonic Book Club.

RWB Brown is an active member of the Grand College of Rites, Societas Rosecruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis and is the Chief Adapt of the Missouri College, Knight Masons, Philalethes Society. He holds membership in National Sojourners and Heroes of ?76., DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor. He is serving as Chairman of the Screening Committee for Missouri of the Royal Order of Scotland. He is a past Sovereign Master of Kilwinning Council, A.M.D.and Red Branch of Eri, he is now serving as the Secretary. He is a member of Harry S Truman York Rite College No. 167 serving as Treasurer, in August 1997 he was honored with the Order of the Purple Cross by the York Rite Sovereign College of North America and was appointed and Installed as the Grand Governor of Missouri July 25, 1998 in Grand Rapids, MI., a position he now holds.

Knight Companion Stanton T. Brown was installed as a member of Mary Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine in 1971 and served as Puissant Sovereign of that Conclave in 1979 he is now serving as the Treasurer/Recorder of Mary Conclave. He was appointed as the Intendant General, Division of Missouri Northern in 1982. At the 120th Annual Assembly of the United Grand Imperial Council in Denver, Colorado he was elected as the Illustrious Grand Almoner. On June 8, 1996 in Harrisburg Pennsylvania Knight Companion Stanton T. Brown, KGC, was elected and Installed as the Most Illustrious Grand Sovereign and a Knight Grand Cross of the United Grand Imperial Council of Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine and Appendant Orders for the United States of America, Mexico and the Philippines and an Honorary Past Grand Sovereign of the Grand Imperial Conclave of Canada. On February 17, 2000 he was installed a Charter member of - Knight of St. Thomas of Acon, Trinity Chapel Number 12 in the Metropolitan Club in Washington D.C. On February 18th 2000 he was elected to become a member of the Great Priory of America - Knights Bienfaisants de la Cite Sainte (CBCS) the only other member in Missouri is Blair C. Mayford of St. Louis, PGM of the Grand Encampment. Only four other Missouri Masons were ever members of this august order: Ray V. Denslow, William R. Denslow, Bruce Harmon Hunt, and Olin S. McDaniel.
