On the day of the concert, my friends
and I got up early in the morning, and started to get ready for the big day! We
had all had showers and were dressed, when my parents said they were going to
drive past the Dome to see how many people were there, it was about 11am. They
rung me and said that there wasn’t many people there, then I received a message
from a girl that I know from the internet and she said that there were stacks of
people there already and that we had better hurry up! So we all quickly packed
our drinks, and money etc.. and I almost forgot my ticket! Eeeek! It was about
11:30am when we arrived at the Dome, and there was a huge line of people!!
Claire (the girl I know from the internet) managed to save us a higher place in
the line, thanks!!! We mainly just sat there and talked for a couple of hours,
then at about 3, Kat and I headed over to buy some Robbie merchandise. It was a
couple minutes before the gates were meant to open when someone came out and
told us that there was a delay so we would have to wait a little while longer.
By then my legs were already killing me from standing so long! We got into the
stadium at about quarter to five. My friends and I ran for our lives to get a
good spot!! We ended up being on the right side of the catwalk right near the
barrier. We were happy with our spots because we knew how close Robbie would be.
MGF started singing soon after, I really didn’t like this performance at all, I
thought it was very rude and disgusting, so I was happy when they had finally
left the stage. I sat down for a few minutes when there were sounds of loud
drumming, then Duran Duran hit the stage. I would have to say that they were
much more bearable than MGF, and they didn’t a reasonable performance, but I
didn’t really take much notice because I was looking forward to Robbie so much!
After Duran Duran had finished their set, it was nearly time for Robbie to come
on! The whole crowd chanted his name as they awaited the pop king himself. It
was a bit before nine when they began to show Robbie on the tv screens on the
side of the stage, the crowd went wild!!
It was 9 o’ clock and the music for Let me entertain you began. Then the
curtains opened and there was Robbie hanging upside down near to top of the
stage! He slowly got lowered down and began to sing!
‘Bounce, come on ya’ll, bounce come on ya’ll’ Robbie yelled! And everyone did.
Robbie was so please with how many people had come to see him, and that he had
sold out a stadium in Australia, you could tell how happy he was! Next was Let
love be your energy, and then he pelted out the Queen classic We will rock you,
and he got the crowd to respond. Next was monsoon, and he started to make his
way down the catwalk, and lucky for my friends and I, he came right infront of
us, and we screamed our lungs out!! I couldn’t believe how close I was! It was
next when Robbie started singing You’re the voice by John Farnham, the crowd
cheered, so Robbie started to sing the next verse, by then the whole crowd was
joining in! Come undone was up next, and I was eager to see who he would pick up
out of the crowd! He ended up getting this girl called Felicity up, Robbie
started laughing when she whispered in his ear that her boyfriend would be mad.
He then asked her would he care if he kissed her, and then he went in for the
kiss, you could tell he was loving it, the lucky thing! Strong and Me and my
monkey were up, it was funny because Robbie forgot some of the words of Me and
my monkey! He also started chanting “Gallaleyo”, from bohemian rhapsody, and got
the crowd to join in! Again he was surprised, so he continued to sing more! You
could tell that the crowd were having a hell of a time, and Robbie was enjoying
himself also! Next was Mr Bojangles (brilliant!) where he dedicated it to his
dad, who was there, and his dads friend who he met in Australia after not seeing
him for 30 years, he also sand a bit of Barbie girl, hahaha! Then there was
She’s the one, where Robbie got a guy to propose to his girlfriend, me and my
friends were also holding up a banner which said Shes the one, with arrows
pointing down, and Robbie read it with this adorable look on his face! Then
there was Supreme, Kids, then he started singing Melbourne for Christmas, and
was saying how he wants to spend Christmas in Australia because it’s nice and
warm! Robbie then got his guitar and sung Better Man, you could tell the crowd
loved it, because it was such a huge hit in Australia. He then dedicated Nans
song, to his friend whose Nan died two weeks before. During No regrets, he
pulled up a t-shirt of Take That which someone had in the crowd, and he was
pointing to himself and was saying ‘whos that!?’ haha!
The highlight of then night, well for me anyway, was when he sung Feel, he then
said goodnight and went backstage. The crowd were eagerly awaiting his return,
and began to chant ‘Robbie, Robbie’ again. Responding to his name, Robbie then
appeared out of a trap door, in the catwalk, and he begun to sing Rock Dj.
Robbie then told the audience that he was about to sing a song that he didn’t
even rehearse, it was Sexed up, the reason he sung it is because he had heard
that it was a big radio hit here in Australia. Last but definitely not the least
was Angels, what a fantastic performance. Robbie then got his band and bowed to
the crowd, then he left the stage. Overall I think that the concert was
absolutely amazing, Robbie had such a connection with the audience, and you
could tell how much he was loving it, it seemed that he wanted the show to go
on, because he kept singing extra songs! Thankyou so much Robbie for the best
night of my life (so far). You are a great performer, the best ever.
