Who I Am, by R.V. Roush
Hightlights:
I dont like to talk with others when Im jogging.
Intellect should dictate in 99% of daily decisions, versus 1% allowance for emotion.
I havent memorized the geography of the world.
Rarely depressed, often optimistic, especially with a few squares of good fudge.
Not much for crowds but tolerate them for entertainments that I really value.
Never abused drugs and have none of the false addictions (gambling, overeating, sexual promiscuity). Have no tattoos or piercings. No longer smoke cigarettes, and drink very little beer.
Not a big fan of fancy dining; dinner should not cost as much as a plumber.
Dont like roller coasters much (caps dont stay on) or amusement parks. Cotton candy is good maybe twice a year and more often if you have a long tongue.
Ive seen As Good as It Gets, Wings of the Dove, and Body Heat at least two times each, and actually do remember some lines. I liked Minority Report and Breakable, but thought Signs was bogus. There are some good cartoon movies, too, and I plan to see that French one because Ive heard its weird and I dont hate the French.

                                               Other Stuff
Im Libertarian, but not politically or socially active. Isolationist. Against laws that criminalize victimless and consenting adult activities with each other. Personal responsibility and freedom, with little government intervention, is good. Fewer people should be dependent on pooled, redistributed taxes. Im against multiple taxations throughout the production, services, and retail channels; the best uses of taxes are public libraries and schools and roads and law enforcement/incarceration services.
I judge the character of people when I meet them and decide whether Ill like them and whether they have morals and values like mine. I discriminate among choices to determine best value and greatest efficiency. I dont manage time or people well. Im not a disciplinarian with others, though I am self-disciplined. A realist, analytic, and detail oriented, though I dont make long-term plans or goals. Being an atheist frees up my Sundays.
Better off than somebetter educated, more honest, more respectful, better dressed, better situated financially, better looking, better preservedbut its an emotional waste of what ifs to compare. In moments, I wonder whether I should try to become a better volunteer, philanthropist, activist, or businessman, but I get over it and feel contentment.
I live on the east side of Dayton in Ohio in a nice two story on two lots, and I havent moved since 1987. I have a indoor/outdoor cat who comes and goes, and trees (black walnut, blue spruce, crab apple). No debt, make decent salary, some investments.
If I change myself, its not to make someone else's life happier. That's bonus, but not a primary consideration. I have high principles and standards, and I rarely seek external validation from people.
Irish/German heritage, though I havent tracked my genealogy and dont have much interest in my ethnic background or anyone elses. Whatever my genetics, Ive been healthy. Ive never diagnosed myself as having a disease, because Im not a doctor, though Ive come close. No broken bones, just a small scar or two, chalky teeth that I would grind at night if not for the mouth guard. Im hopeful about the health benefits of green tea.
I am unbelievably slow at recognizing signals of interest from women. I dont have that sexy, animal magnetism, testosterone-laden ego that women go for until the shallowness and repetition and disrespectfulness sets in. But I dont like gardening or crocheting, and Ive never had electrolysis. Males can be considerate and still like to fart.
Though I have a good education, Im still civil toward people with regressive ideas. Im nonviolent, noncompetitive, and dont mind much living alone, though I like to share. Live and let live is one of my many philosophies.

Accomplishments: Keeping my cat clean and alive for 20 years, over 80 percent self-knowledge, always doing my own laundry, one or two good haircuts (I played the stylists canvas), staying slim, living.
