| Abstract | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Beth Brolin refuses to be a victim. Her emotional strength and behavior defy the dramatized hysterics expected of rape survivors, forcing her to question the severity of her own violation by comparison. In the twelve years following the attack, she continues to have failed relationships, she makes friends at college and loses one in a gruesome accident, she experiments sexually with a woman, she moves in with her college philosophy professor, she graduates with an MBA, she becomes a Quality Assurance manager, and she buys a new home. Then she again encounters the man whod assaulted her. Learning that the time to exact legal justice has run out, she risks her own safety to construct a new case against Robert James. |
