Biliran is an Island province located at the northwestern part of the main island of Leyte.Biliran is now a regular province since its creation by virtue of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991. Before this, Biliran was a sub-province of the main island province of Leyte. It is composed of eight (8) municipalities or town with one hundred thirty-two (132) barangays under its territorial jurisdiction. The eight towns are namely: Almeria, Biliran, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, Culaba, Kawayan, and the capital town of Naval.
