About the Photographer
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
My first interest in astronomy rose from the Voyager flybys of Saturn in the early 1980s.  The local newspapers printed several color photos of images returned by the spacecraft which in turn got me interested. IAlso the start of the Space Shuttle program at that time acted as a catalyst. read just about all the childern's books in my school library that covered the stars and planets. I really jumped into astronomy in March 1982 at age 9 due to my late grandmother buying a copy of Astronomy magazine for me. Since that time I have owned several scopes from my first scope--a K-Mart 40mm bird watcher to my current eight and ten inch scopes. I have been photographing the sky since October 1995 as a side hobby. Currently I am a volunteer with the Florida Air Museum and are working with them to start a new astronomy education program. The center piece of the program will be a Meade 16 inch LX-200 GPS telescope; which will be taken to the schools around the Lakeland and Polk County areas to in order to get students and parents interested in science and math. It will be an uphill battle, but it will be worth the effort!
