The history of machine aided multimedia has been relatively short. However, since World War II multimedia has developed to an unrecognizable point from its beginnings. The timeline presented here is a summary of a few aspects leading to the innovations that are now used everyday. The purpose is to show a progression from the cumbersome beginnigs of the first electronically run computers to the concepts and philosophies behind the rapidly advancing techniques used in presented various media online. The timeline spans more than fifty years of human history.
