We came up with this website because we think this source is reliable and it has been applied in University of Victoria, Canada. Beside that, we also consider the criteria of web evaluation and questions that created in CALL class. Here are the explanations:

According to us, learner’s fit is the main criteria when we decided to take this website. One of learner’s fits is level of competence and this website provides the several levels which are appropriate to apply in the class especially for reading skill. Here, we find that it also provides appropriates materials to teach a second grade of senior high school. For example, the Nasreddin’s story is very ideal in the age of second grade of senior high school. The story is very interesting and easy to understand. This will help the students to get more intention in reading. This websites has many more interesting topics in reading materials so the teacher has many options to choose the material which is proper to the learner’s characteristics.  As result, the teacher doesn’t have any difficulties to decide the material for his/her learner’s level competence.

Here, we also think that this website is reliable enough since it has the trusted author (The University of Victoria, Canada). As we know it guarantees the quality of the available materials there. We can see that the author has appropriate competence to provide good materials because the materials ever have applied in the teaching activity.

Moreover, this website is very practical. We can apply this into the class easily because we do not need complicated media that we should use. In other word, we can apply this material and download the material for the students in the second grade of senior high school, since it can be printed easily by the teacher and will be copied to the students. Our other opinion that covers the practicality is the students will not find any difficulties in doing the task or activities, since the task is ease to be done. Two examples of the task are multiple choices and fill in the blanks. In addition, most of the vocabularies that are given to the students are understandable.

Next our discussion covers the meaning focus. The site is very consistent to use the target language in giving instruction to the assignments. The instructions use simple and clear words so that the students would not feel confused to do it. As we know the first impression will influence students’ motivation to do all the tasks.

Language learning potential also become a reason why we choose this website. The assignments have time limits to pressure students in completing tasks. It will provide teacher information about how well students understand the passage in certain time which show student’s competence in reading. This can be feedback for teacher to upgrade the material for next meeting.

Somehow, this site benefits to the teacher since that the material indirectly improve not only reading skill but also writing. By using this site, also, the students adopt more knowledge in grammar. For example, the assignment  provide writing part which provide grammar to write passive voice in reading text. From here, the teacher can insert the new strategy to teach all skills.

We think that it is not really important to have an up-dated site in order to take the material as long as the material still can be used in most of the teaching. However, the up-dated site does not guarantee that we will get good material to be applied to the students. In other word, we have to consider the condition of the school itself, we mean, if the site is up-dated but it is not downloadable then it will be useless.

Other thing that we do not think the importance is authentically. We think that the conditions of every place are different. Something that can be applied in a certain region or country is not always can be applied in other place. Our opinion is this kind of material is one of our sources, in other word; we will use the modified material. We also felt that the material is used for developing the teachers’ knowledge in order to create a new attractive way of teaching.
