"Kaleidoscope1-A Mind of It's Own" In a kaleidoscope reproduction, each piece or section has to be repeated exactly eight times. I worked on a design wall, and it seemed that the quilt in fact had a "mind of its own." Many times, a piece of fabric was cut into eight identical pieces, and when placed on the design wall, the kaleidoscope told me "oh no, not today." All I could do was search for a better fitting fabric, and question whether all the time and waste of fabric would have rewarding results. The question is answered to your left..."Ruth"
"Music-The voice of the Soul" The quilted wall hanging to your right was made for Ms. DeLay to show my appreciation for all the help and inspiration she has provided to young artists..."Ruth"
"Tile Floors of Venice#1" This quilt is the first of a series of several quilts. In 1988, I photographed the many tile floor patterns in St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice. I was a novice quilt maker at the time, but I had the vision to see those floors interpreted in my medium. This quilt represents the first of my efforts, not only in the fields of design, but in so many other areas. My backround in mathematics was invaluable, as it takes quite a bit of geometry to get angular pieces to form a circle, and then expect them to lay flat! In order to achieve the illusion of marble, it was necessary to hand dye some of the fabric. I hope you can see the artistry in my vision..."Ruth"
