1) Ranking
All tournament entrants will be ranked on ability and placed into one of three tiers. The ranking will be made by the Tournament Directors with the assistance of the SL committee. The decision over the final rankings is the responsibility of the Tournament Directors.
2) Team Structure
There will be the same number of tier 1 players as there are teams. The remaining entrants will be split into either tier 2 or tier 3. Each team will be made up of one tier 1 player and a number of tier 2 and tier 3 players. In order that match up process work (described in rule 7), the number of players per team shall equal the number of teams 1 or (number teams 1)/2.
3) Preformed Teams
During the entry period, teams may form and submit team cores of up to 3 players, one of which must be designated the captain. Note that preformed team cores may only have one tier 1 player. It is not necessary to be part of a preformed team to enter and single entries are of course welcome and will be selected by team captains to join a team during the drafting process.
4) Captainship
Those wishing to be a team captain should say so when entering the tournament. Captainship will be appointed on a first come basis. You do not need to have a preformed team to submit your entry as a captain. A team captain may be from any tier.
5) Pre-draft
Teams with 2 or 1 players (where a player wants to be a captain but does not add other members) will fill their team core to 3 members on a pre-draft round. Teams with one player start first and the selection is carried out as described in rule 6.
6) Drafting
Team captains will select the remainder of their teams from the player pool. They may choose from any tier and from which they make their selections. The captains (or a nominated vice captain) MUST be available during the selection week. Each captain submits their 1st, 2nd, 3rd player choice. The team selection order is determined for each draft round and then each team will be given their highest selected player if that player has not already been chosen earlier in that drafting round. The next drafting round will then take place on the remaining player pool and again each captain submits their 1st, 2nd, 3rd player choice and given their players in turn. The drafting rounds continue until all players are selected. This process will be directed by the tournament directors and will be done through private messaging.
7) Match ups
The Team Captains alternate in choosing the match-ups as coordinated by the Tournament Directors. There is no requirement to match the player tier in the challenges. The challenging team may also determine the game from either Mini Rush, Open Rush, or Corner Sabotage. The match up process happens over a number of rounds as follows:
Round 1: team A challenges team B, team B challenges team C, team C challenges team D and so on.
Round 2, A challenges C, B challenges D, C challenges E and so on.
Round 3, A challenges D, B challenges E, C challenges F and so on.
Etc.
8) Invites
Each team plays one game against each other team. Thus all team members play two games. The side that makes the challenge also sends the invite. Games may start immediately the match up has been made.
9) Time limit
Game invites are to be for a 7 day time limit. However, twice during the game you may request of your opponent a change of the time limit to a longer period, (this is to allow for vacations, etc). Your opponent MUST agree. Upon your return you MUST request the time limit return to 7 days. Caution: In order to avoid a time-out, make your move before reverting to the 7 day time limit!
10) No capture draw
If you plan to invoke the "draw due to no piece capture" rule you must notify your opponent a minimum of six moves in advance.
11) Winning Team
The Team with the most wins in total wins the Tournament. If there is a tie for first place, then the tied Captains (or a player nominated by the captain) will play one final game against each other. The deciding game will be mini rush.
12) Disputes
The Tournament Directors are to be contacted if any problems or disputes arise regarding results. All decisions by the Tournament Directors are final. If the Directors disagree, then the issue will be decided by the Sabotage League Committee. Anyone showing gross un-sportsmanship against their fellow League players will forfeit their game
13) Statistics and Results
As in all previous League Events, a player's Game Statistics must be turned on at all times. Please send all game results to either of the Tournament Directors Mark [mmmaddox] or bert_b [bert_b] so that we can post the results on this website. |
