Meet the Staff
Greetings - My name is Denise Gordon and I am the Deputy Principal of Rutherford Intermediate. I first started teaching in 1969 at George St Normal in Dunedin. I then undertook full time University study, took time out for marriage and motherhood for some years.
I returned to teaching approx 1977 at Keith St School, Wanganui. I then worked at Whangaehu as both a teacher and Principal. My next school was Churton as AP. I then moved to Rutherford Intermediate, as both a teacher and woodwork teacher. I am now the Deputy Principal.
I have a varied range of interests - swimming, snorkelling, hockey, travel, scrabble (tournament level), cryptic crosswords, lateral thinking puzzles, nature/conservation, reading and art.
I believe our job as educationalists is to positively promote the power and potential of each individual pupil. At Rutherford, we do this collectively through our commitment to educational excellence.
