Spring has Sprung

Every March 21st, Mexico celebrates the first day of spring and the anniversary of the birth of a former president, Benito Juarez, with parades and festivities.  This year, our Preschoolers and Kinder-gartners participated in the parade.  One of our little ones, 3 year old Kiana, pictured here, was a beautiful butterfly.  We are so proud of our pink butterfly.  Of course, moms deserve a trophy for marching alongside of the children but on the sidelines. ♥

Meet Jose Luis

The newest addition to our little family is little Jose Luis, whose mom is a field-worker.  His father left the family when mom was 3 months pregnant and she has been trying desperately to keep her little family fed.  Though he is 15 mos. old, he doesn’t walk yet.   Culturally, Indian mothers carry their children on their backs, even while they work, until it’s time for them to walk.  They never crawl first.  So, with a little more leg muscle strengthening, Jose Luis will be ready to take off.  He has now learned to crawl and is a furniture walker so it won’t be long.

We Give Thanks

During Easter Break every year, many teams of visiting students converge on the Baja for short term missionary trips.  We were blessed this year with students from Vanguard College in the Los Angeles area who helped paint two rooms and youth from Big Valley Grace Church in Modesto, CA who brought us  their leftover groceries from their week’s campout  and whose leaders repaired several items in the yard.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope to see you again next year.  We also extend our thanks to Wendy and Louise who traveled from Canada with a group who built a house for a poor Indian family and volunteered their services for a day when we were minus a worker. What a nice day we all had.  Kudos to IDT volunteers Cheryl, Janeth, Tessa, and Tammi   Thanks, ladies.
