Long, Hot Summer:

So far, our summer has probably been as hot as yours.  But, we do have the advantage of cool breezes off the ocean from about a mile and half away.  The children have been having their devotions outside under the shade of a fan palm tree.   A small wading pool was recently donated and we have filled it up on several occasions to cool our little guys down.  As you can see in the photo, they have a great time.  Hermana Martha showed us more of her skills when she dressed up some of the children as clowns.  They were really good at that! ©

We salute our teachers:

Recently, a friend, Sue Fan Foo from Massachusetts, came to evaluate and work with our little ones and with Santiago, Brandy and Rance Cook’s son.  Sue is a professor teaching special education to prospective teachers in a university there.  We truly enjoyed her visit and the great suggestions she gave for some of our children.  She can make learning fun!  Thank you, Sue, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.  ©

An I.D.T. friend, Norma Sloan, comes over once a week or so to hold English classes with our children.  At their age, they seem to absorb new languages.  Wish it worked like that for me.  They are learning basic salutations, colors, and numbers.  They sound so cute when they can thank you in two languages.  Thanks mucho, Norma.  ©
