JFSC BBQ
Step by Step Process
This program was primarily planned by the students of the JFSC for the Jewish students of the fraternities and sororities.  For the most part, the event was planned at the bi-monthly JFSC meetings.  Each student took partial responsibility for the event making it easy and successful.

1.  Meet with the JFSC and the representatives to choose a time and date for this program (it worked especially well on the reading days before finals.)  It is important for each chapter rep to check with their chapter calendars to make sure the date doesn't conflict with any large events, such as semi-formals, rush, pledge events or initiation.

2.  Find a location for the event, preferably in the front yard of a fraternity or sorority on or around Union Street, so that it is visible to the Greek population.

3.  Choose a rain location, alternate program, or rain date.  We really lucked out this year, but an alternate plan should have been devised.

4.  Start publicizing ASAP!!  Assign a student to be in charge of publicity; making a flyer, distributing it to the different houses, putting them up in OFSA, placing them in the OFSA mailboxes, place an ad in the Greek Forum section of the Targum classified ads.

5.  Hold a planning meeting to help brainstorm creative ideas for the event and to make sure all responsibilities are covered.

6.  Figure out what needs to be served at the barbeque and ask each student involved to purchase the materials.

7.  The week of the event, touch base with the students to make sure that they are all on top of their purchases.  Place an order at Mei Garden for kosher hamburger and hot dog meat.

8.  A few days before the event, make sure there is charcoal for the grill, matches, plates, napkins, cups, etc. in Hillel.  If there is not enough, purchase those materials or ask a student to.

9.  The day of the event, pick up the meat at Mei Garden, bring the grill to the bbq location, pick up a few balloons to hang around.  Get the grill started about 45 minutes prior to the start of the event.  Lay out all the condiments, buns, drinks.

10.  ENJOY!!!  This is a very simple  but GREAT program!
