Little Sandy Creek
Little Sandy Creek is a well known stream to flyfishers in Western Pennsylvania. The Delayed Harvest Flyfishing Only area covers 1.3 miles starting at the Pumphouse on the Polk State Center grounds going downstream to the bridge on State Road 3024.  Parking is limited along the stream, but there is parking available along route 62 and at the pumphouse.

Little Sandy is a smaller sized stream with lots of overhaning branches and bushes.  The water is clear and shallow most of the time so extreme stealth must be used to take these trout.  The stream has a good number of caddisfly and mayfly hatches that provides the fly angler good opportunity.

A short rod in the 3-4 weight class is ideal for this stream, and bring lots of flies as even the seasoned caster will catch a branch or two during an evening fish.  Long light tippets are also a key.

The stream is stocked preseason and three times within season.  The fly area holds a good number of trout year around with both stocked and wild trout found.
