| 04/25/2002- The Grannoms have started, actually they started hatching last Friday, but with the cold spell that came through, they shut off for a couple days until it warmed up some again. I fished Oil Creek yesterday and there were plenty of insects on the water and plenty of fish being caught. Look for things to improve during the next week or so as the weather improves. Good Luck. Keep an eye on the USGS website for updated Oil Creek water levels. When you look at the levels, use the following as a guide. 700cf/s and above means the stream is blown out and not fishable. Between 500cf/s and 700cf/s is marginal fishing conditions. Between 300cf/s and 500cf/s is good fishing levels. Levels between 100cf/s and 300cf/s are ideal conditions. Also watch for sharp spikes in the level, this usually means the conditions are poor. Also check the weather conditions below to help plan your trip. |
