| I was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, many years ago. I moved to Fall River, Massachusetts when I was 13 years old. I graduated at BMC Durfee High School in Fall River Mass in 1949. I then went to Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to study to be an artist, after which I had to go to the Korean War. I joined the US Navy in 1950 and spent 4 years as a sailor until my discharge in 1954. In 1957 I married Carol Bletzer, the woman who has been the light of my life for over 44 years now. We have two wonderful children, Kevin and Karen. My ultimate goal in life was to be an artist, and that is what I achieved. I became a technical illustrator for many years, and then I became a freelance art teacher after that. |
One of my major accomplishnments with my chosen career, was to create a painting of Christa McAuliffe, the teacher who died in the Challenger shuttle tragedy in 1986. I had a poster created from the oil painting, and it is now displayed in numerous schools througout the United States. The poster is depicted at the top of this page. |
