Infomaniacs

This is a site dedicated to infomaniacs and people who believe the phrase, "there are no ceilings". I really didn't want to put anything in this site about myself, but I guess if you're going to read the views then you're going to learn about the writer. Anyway... I've always had a burning desire to learn and am on a constant quest for self and intellectual enlightenment. I work, but in my spare time I am studying for a degree, so the internet has an addictive quality to me in that, apart from the fact that it simply rocks, it also has an everlasting learning potential. If I didn't have reason to, I think I might never leave my keyboard.

Computers and anything connected with them and the technology surrounding them, boring nerdy stuff, internet relay chat, mp3's, downloads, programming languages, surfing, scripting, operating systems, etc are all things I find completely enthralling. The origins of cyberspace is particularily interesting, most people probably don't even give it much thought, they just boot up and log in, but to me, it is fascinating and just one of the reasons why I am addicted.

There are more things than just the internet itself to amaze me and leave me dumbstruck... The technology of itself, harnessed on the back of Graham Alexander Bell's original invention, the telephone. A creation which was once descibed as being more complex than the human brain, and let's face it, no-one has even come close to figuring that one out! What's even more amazing is that it seems to be going "mobile" in more than one sense of the word... multimedia....on the move. Which is great news for me as even if I am "AFK" (Away From Keyboard) I can still be on-line!

When mobile phones appeared in the 1980's most of us could not understand why anyone would want to lug one of those things around. A car battery in a briefcase was not the most convenient of accessories. It hardly seemed the start of a revolution. Nowadays, the mobile phone has changed from an annoying status symbol to an indispensable companion for more than 24 million of us in the UK (which is more than half of all adults). There is a 3 stage revolution happening right now which will intermingle mobiles with the internet and its limitless information and services.
