| RUSTIC ROAD RANCH BOARDING |
| Rustic Road Ranch offers limited indoor and outdoor boarders. We have a new facility (almost done, just finishing touches!) built in 2001. How we got into boarding horses was not typical. After years of boarding my 2 geldings, Jesse & Andy, and going through the worst scenerio's, we decided to finally go through with our dream, a quaint hobby farm in the country. Jesse endured the worst. The first facility we had him at kept him inside 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. That wasn't the bad part, what was is that stalls were cleaned 2 times a week. The fumes in his stall got so bad in the summer it stung my eyes just to go in there. So I left for another try, at a then-friends place. Things were great in the beginning, good freinds always there, horse happily turned out during the day, just a great atmosphere. Well boy did that change, as summer heated up, I found out her horse was not being kept indoors at night (for which I was paying for!) and to top that, not being fed the grain and supplements he needs as a hard keeper. Jesse rapidly deterioted till he was skin and bones. (see picture below) Well two freinds of mine went in co-renting of a pasture at another farm. We installed all new fencing, and brought my 2 boys,, and my freinds combined 4 horses. Living outdoors, with only shelter was great for the late summer, and early fall, and Jesse was gaining weight, but when the weather turned, the poor thin skinned fellow couldnt keep up with the other 5 horses who were thriving, and started going back downhill. One more farm did the trick for me, for 4 months Jesse lived at Cozy Mill QH Farm, in Union Grove, WI where he was blanketed, loved, and actually fed! He gained enough weight over the winter, that when we purchased our own farm, we wanted to be able to help others, and give the quality care a horse truely deserves. Well this is a long story, but I think it says a lot of how typical horse farms are ran, and as long as a horse walks these pastures, he will be cared for, and most importantly loved as one of my own. ....jenna |
