Museum
of Wooden Architecture
The Museum of Wooden Architecture, 4 km. from Novgorod
on the municipal bus (bus fare, 1 Ruble = 3 cents). Begun in 1964
on a former estate, wooden buildings from around the Novgorod region have
been brought here. This church is said to date from 1595. Notice
Ruth standing in the front (strictly to provide scale, of course).
Another church said
to date from 1531.
A house from
1882. Not pictured: people acting the part of peasants living in
the house, and selling crafts on the front porch.
