Peterhof (Petrodvorets)
--Peter the Great's Summer Palace

Peter the Great's summer palace is an easy bus ride from a Metro station, in the suburbs of St. Petersburg.  This is a very popular weekend outing for the locals.  Getting home in the afternoon is a little harder, since all the buses are full with people from further-out suburbs.  We ended up taking a different bus to a further out Metro station that resulted in tour of a newer neighborhood of large apartment blocks.

Ruth with our guides, Sasha and Olga, friends of our Russian friends in California.  They had been here many times before.

The fountains from the back of the palace, looking out to the Gulf of Finland.  Click here for more fountains, including "trick fountains" in the woods.
