Russian Hockey Players    I Have Personally Met!!!
Igor Knyazev first came to the Hurricanes after he was drafted in 2001 I believe. The next season, when the Canes went to the Cup Finals, they brought Igor along to practice with the guys after they brought him back from surgery in Kazakhstan (so the newspapers said). I met him at a practice, and I think I scared him. As you all know by now, I am crazy about Russians, and he was only about 19 at the time, so I couldn't resist. He didn't speak any English, but I didn't care. He left the building, and I didn't know if he was coming back in or not. I later realized it was because he was riding back to where he was staying with another player. I ran up and hugged him when he re-entered the building, and I will never forget how red his face turned!! Haha, it was priceless, and from then on I figured I was destined to marry him! Lol....rrrrright!!!!
Danny Markov is a former player for the Carolina Hurricanes, my local NHL team.  He came in an off-season deal from the Phoenix Coyotes. I was thrilled to have a Russian on the team finally, but it came at the expense of trading away Igor Knyazev. I will never forget the times that I was able to speak Russian to Danny, and he actually understood me and seemed somewhat impressed! He had a great work ethic, and he is tough on the ice. Good luck in Philadelphia Daniil!!!
Alexei Yashin is an alternate captain for the New York Islanders. I met him on April 2, 2004 when his team came to Raleigh to play the Hurricanes. He signed after the game, and looking back, I was almost hyperventilating. I saw him signing on the other side, and I wasn't sure if it was him, so I just brought my camera. It was him! I was so exctied, and he signed two cards for me, and let me get some pictures with him and some of  him. I got my chance to speak Russian to him, and, he understood me!!
Sergei Brylin is on the New Jersey Devils. He is a friend if one of my friends. After a Devils game at RBC Center, my friends had an extra media pass which they graciously gave to me. We were able to go down by the locker rooms and meet the Devils players. Among them, we talked to Sergei for several minutes, took pictures, and he signed. I also met Devils goalie Marty Brodeur!!!
Oleg Kvasha is also a New York Islanders player that I met the same night as Alexei Yashin. I didn't really have a chance to talk to him because he was on his phone while he signed autographs, but he did pause long enough for me to take his picture.                  Oleg-->
