IT ALL STARTED AS SUCH A SIMPLE EXPERIMENT. HOW COULD I HAVE EVER KNOWN THAT IT WOULD GO SO HORRIBLY WRONG. HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN? HOW? GOOD GOD, IT'S RUINED MY LIFE, IT HAS. RUINED! HOW DO I CONTINUE NOW? HOW DO I KEEP GOING AFTER THIS?!?
UP DOWN AND ALL AROUND THE COMIX FORMAT ALLOWS SO MUCH, IT DOES. IT IS THE BRAIN'S DIRECT CANVAS, PAINTING WITH THE SOUL. THERE ARE NO LIMITS TO WHAT I CAN DO WITH THIS WONDERFUL LANGUAGE. NO. LIMITS. I CAN DO ANYTHING.
January 15, 2004 I've uncovered something amazing with these comix. Amazing, it is. Astounding. They are a language. They will have something to say. Amazing. January 1, 2004 This will be my 28th year. Huh. I really need to do something special with myself before the 30th. I am in the second third of my life, and must begin doing something of import. Comix. As. Language. December 30, 2003 A local creator friend of mine, Rob Schamberger, is trying to get me to join up with a group of local creators. Dunno about that. I'm not much for interacting with people, but the idea of sharing ideas with like-minded people is very tempting. I'd love to share my findings with those people. December 23, 2003 A US publisher has been inquiring about importing Birdz n' Beez. Go figure. Maybe this cocked up industry is turning around. My Norwegian publisher tells me that it probably won't go through, though, because of international licensing and the like. That's a bummer, but it was a little heartening thinking about being able to actually buy my own work in my own country. Not to be. Continuing my exploration of comix as a language and not as an artform has become a very enlightening experience. I've begun researching the works of Aleister Crowley, especially the Qabalah, which seems to fit in very nicely with the idea of comix as language. Very exciting parallels. December 15, 2003 The 'other half' has been really getting on my nerves lately. I wish she would just understand and appreciate all of the work that goes into making comix, especially when you're working for a publisher on a whole different continent. I mean, I love her and all, but she does get under my skin sometimes. Probably just the looming holiday season bringing me down like it does every year. December 3, 2003 I really don't care for the American comix scene. I've had a couple friends ask me why I only work for the Norwegian publishers, and I just give them 'the stare'. I don't want to do superheroes, or science fiction, or any of that crap. I don't want to be judged by the works of artists from the 1940's. The American scene just won't let me do the sort of comix that I want to do. Birdz n' Beez just wouldn't do well here. November 28, 2003 I've been toying with format style a lot more of late. I met this other local KC creator, who said he thinks of comix more as a language than as an artform. That really got my brain going in all kinds of directions. Thinking about my approach a lot differently, now. November 21, 2003 Kelli and I are planning to visit her family up in St Joe for Thanksgiving. That's all well and good, I suppose. I'd rather be working on the next issue, though. There's some stylistic stuff I'd like to try out, some stuff that I find really exciting. Ah, well. Being a vegetarian on Turkey Day is MUCH more fun, isn't it? November 15, 2003 Look at me! I've got a website!
