| Born in Somerset County, New Jersey, Russell "Rusty" Myers III has comitted his professional career to excellence in broadcasting, expressed through a work ethic of dedication, dilligence, professionalism, and loyalty. Raised in Basking Ridge, NJ, Rusty was born to Russell, Jr. and Joan, and attended Ridge High School, one of the more prestigious public high schools in New Jersey. It was there where he was first exposed to the world of broadcasting and television production, instilling in him a love and passion for electronic journalism. Working on the towns public access channel managed by the high school, RHS Channel 12 presented a wonderful opportunity for Rusty to gain hands on experience in a challenging environment which would adequatly prepare him for what would be needed to excel in a career concentrating in television production and video engineering. At RHS, Rusty, almong with a handful of other life-long friends, would institute the schools first truly active extra-curricular television groups which would manage and operate Channel 12, introducing a wide range of programming to the community - including news, entertainment, sports, and much more. In 1998, Rusty was accepted to William Paterson University through their immediate decision program. Basing his reasons to go to the institution on the quality of the Communication Program, he immediatly immersed himself in the student-run Pioneer Television Network upon his arrival. Within his first few days at William Paterson, he became involved with Catholic Campus Ministry and met Father Louis Scurti, a relationship which would eventually lead to one of the biggest accomplishments in Rusty's life. His first position of leadership at William Paterson was being named Executive Producer of "The Word: Alive and Well", Campus Ministry's 1/2 talk show. Soon thereafter, he was recognized with his first Dr. Anthony Maltese Award. During his second year at William Paterson and with what now became WPBN-TV, he began directing multi-camera shows - newscasts, sports games, and talk shows, and also gained a good understanding of the 'nuts and bolts' of TV Production by working variety of jobs. It was also during this year that he was appointed to the vacent WPBN-TV Vice Presidency. It would be at the end of that year that he would be elected to the WPBN-TV Presidency. In Rusty's freshman year, he began a long-lasting friendship with IRT Engineers Pat Ryan and Bob Kovaleski, which at the end of that year would materialize into an internship with the Video Engineering deprtamnet of the college. During that intership, and throughout the job that followed as a STC, Rusty gained invaluable experience and knowledge from Mr. Kovaleski in video and electrical enginnering. Those aquired skills would later be very valuable in the design, construction, and equipment integration of production facilites for William Paterson, Ridge High School, and CCMCommunications. Throughout the next two years, in two unchallenged nominations and elections as Presidnet of WPBN-TV, Rusty's vision for the student television network saw it change and grow. The number and scope of productions under his leadership grew, to providing on WPBN-TV over 30 hours a week of original programming, over half of which was live. During this time, Rusty gained and refined invaluable production skills - ioncluding directing - in every arena of broadcasting .... news, sports, entertainment, and talk. He also became an accomplished editor, on both linear and non-linear systems. In 2002, Rusty began working at the FOX News Channel, as a telepromptor operator, at it's world headquarters in New York City. As a 'freelancer', and later as a staff stage manager, some of the stories and events that he participated in producing coverage for FOX News and FOX Broadcasting were the Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster, Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Capture of Saddam Hussein, the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Benedict XVI, and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. As primetime, weekend, and overnight Stage Manager, Rusty has had the priveledge of staging for many of the FOX News Channel personalities - Bill O'Reilly, Geraldo Rivera, Rita Cosby, Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes, Shepherd Smith, Neil Cavuto, Greta Van Susterin, Carol Iovana, Donna Fiducia, Rick Folbaum, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as well as moany other anchors. He has also had the honor of meeting many high profile guests, among which include Dr. Henry Kissenger, Buzz Aldrin, foreighn heads of state (for example, the Israeli Foreign Minister), ambassadors, various members of Congress and the Seante, current and former Governers, as well as entertainment prsonalities - Debra Gibson, Christina Agulera, Gene Simmons, Don King, and Evander Holyfield, among others. One of the greatest accomplishemnets in Rusty's carrer, though, materialized in 2003 - the implementation of the CCMCommunications Television Operations Center (TOC). After years of fundraising, Rusty, Executive Producer of CCMCommunications since 1999, played a major secured three substantial endowmnets to pay for the construction and equipment purchasing. As the culmination of 8 years of education and experience, Rusty designed, purchased, and constructed the TOC to the exact needs of the productions produced by CCMCommunications. This facility over next few years would see multiple upgrades, becoming one of the only production facilities of it's type in the world of Catholic broadcasting. An employee of the Diocese of Paterson Communicatioon Secretariat, Rusty serves as Executive Producer, overseeing the engineering, planning, production, and distribution of all television produictions of CCMCommunications, including various diocesan videos. "The Word: Alibe and Well", produced by CCMCommunications, owes much of its look, content and format to Rusty's vision - which is the combination of 10 years of broadcasting experience in producing, directing, engineering, web and intenet design, and broadcast managment. This is evident in two of the most recent acolades that have been awarded to CCMCommunications - two Gold MarCom Creative Awards and a Communicator Print Media Award of Distinction. Rusty currently resides in Lyndhurst, NJ. |
