Inspired by the good folks at Radio Free Berkeley and the fine people in Santa Cruz, Pirate Radio is coming to our community.
The need for un-filtered and non-processed information as well as alternative music and ideas is long overdue. It is my strong belief that there are a growing number of people here in our area that are finally waking up and seeing what has been done to them. I, myself, take great pride in the people of Castlewood and the stand they took to end their town charter resulting in being the first town in Virginia to "fire our local government". We are now just a community (the way it should be).
The radio station is in the developing stages and I will try to keep everyone posted as it progresses toward going on the air. The person or people working hard to make this station a reality are doing so out of their own pockets and ask nothing in return. There are needs that have to be met before we all can enjoy this exiting new possibility. The first thing is that the word gets out about it. The second is the station it self. Transmitters and technical equipment cost money and take time to build. Like I said, it is on the way to becoming a reality. If you would like to help or know someone who has parts and would like to contribute leave an e-mail with me and I will pass it on. They are in a unique situation where the people going forward with this project must not be targeted by anyone objecting to it; it is for this reason that I am acting as a go-between and will be passing mail to the right places.
So with all of that said, I present everyone with this webpage and starting point for a new chapter in the ongoing struggle to enjoy our life here in the Appalachian Mountains. |
