This drum is used in ritual ceremonies such as Pow Wows, Spirit Feasts. Rawhide is from Elk. Painting on the front is that of a smudge pot buring the sage, sweetgrass, tabacco and cedar. From the smoke which carries the prayer and thoughts to the creator. From the smoke comes the spirits of the Bear for Health and Healing. Also the Buffalo which denotes strength inner and outer.
