Jabba the Hutt was one of the most notorious and powerful crime lords in the galaxy. Jabba was born to Zorba and was a member of the infamous Desilijic clan. By the time Jabba was 600 years old he was in charge of his own vast criminal empire. Though most Desilijic crime organizations were on Nal Hutta, Jabba moved his to Tatooine and hoped to expand to the entire Outer Rim. Jabba set up a town house in Mos Eisley and a palace in the Western Dune Sea. While on Tatooine, Jabba controlled a large spice trader and employed numerous bounty hunters and smugglers including Han Solo and Chewbacca.
When Jabba got word that Solo and Chewbacca had dropped one of his precious shipments of spice he demanded that they pay him back or he would put a price on their heads. Although Solo and the Wookiee avoided him for three years, Solo was finally brought to Jabba-though he was frozen in carbonite by Boba Fett. Chewie was brought in afterwards, but it was really a daring rescue attempt to save Han. Together Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, Lando, and the two droids managed to save Solo from Jabba's minions. In the act, Jabba was strangled to death by Princess Leia. |
