Caress of Steel
The live photos were taken during one of the last shows of the Fly By Night tour, June 25th, 1975 at Toronto's Massey Hall
"The first album cover I did was Caress of Steel. They were pencil drawings, even though they don't look like it on the album. I reworked th lyric sheet to create the center image. (the lyrics were removed, and the image moved onto the concrete block) They printed them in a sort of pseudo-sepia tone. I had vignetted with an airbrush, the blue area around the illustrations, which was later reinterpreted by the film strippers who were making the jackets in Chicago at the time. They took it upon themselves to cut a hard-edged mask around it. The lettering was cast, and chrome plated." - Hugh Syme, "From Brainwaves to Tidal Waves: The Story Behind Rush's Album Covers", Creem, 1983

Geddy and Neil wrote the lyrics for The Fountain of Namneth and they thought it would be kind of nice to try to incorporate a very loose concept in it by having a starting point and ending point which would go from the beginning of side two to the end of side two. It would be one complete story, but broken up, so that it could be individual songs that, unless you look closely, wouldn't necessarily relate to each other.
