Rushden and Diamonds was formed in 1992 by the amalgamation of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds, hence Rushden and Diamonds.

Since then a lot has been achieved with the help of current Chairman Mr. Max Griggs.  Diamonds took the Beazer Homes League (now Dr. Martens) Midland Division title in the 1993-94 season and the Premier Division title in the 1995-96 season and along the way have built an all new 6635 capacity stadium with excellent facilities.

Despite this success, the club stayed out of the limelight until 1998 when they took Leeds Utd to a replay in the FA Cup 3rd round.  However, despite being hotly fancied for the Conference title in the last three seasons, Diamonds have yet to achieve league status thanks to an end of season flop in each of the campaigns, finishing 4th, 4th and 2nd.

Their most notable achievement of last season was taking Sheffield United of Division One to a replay, again in the FA Cup 3rd round, before losing on penalties.
