| Why cant we all just get along?! | ||||||||||||||
| I have begun to notice how much the articles page is largely a series of rants. But never mind, it seems that we are most inspired to write about what pisses us off most, so so be it, im certainly not going to apologize for it. But anyway, onto the subject of this piece, and it concerns the attitude found accompanying some BMX riders at present. Now you may think I'm stabbing myself in the foot with this one, me riding BMX as well and all. But I don't mean all those 20inch riders, though God knows I seem to have come across a fair few of the twats recently. But before i go on, I do realise that there are many BMX riders out there who are more open minded, and have no relation to the following, so i don't want to see some messages pointed at me saying something like, "You said all BMXers are twats, but we're not, so there." Let me set the scene a little for you. I was browsing through a BMX forum recently, and chatting with a few people about various sites, with everyone plugging their sites a little, as well as just chatting about others. I had some feedback about this site, and overall it seemed pretty ok. And then, this piece of literary genius appeared on my screen; and i quote "nad there gay ive seen 26inch wheels on there website". Now, we have actually arrived at the point of the article. At the minute a fair few BMX riders out there appear to have a fair amount of misplaced rage about those riding mountain bikes, or for that matter, trials riders, or anyone else using a bike with bigger wheels. I really don't understand it, and this is an open inviation for any angry BMX riders out there to address the situation and to write to me with some decent reasons on why BMX is the only real 'hardcore' form of riding out there. Most mountain bike riders i know, in fact pretty much all of them, really respect what can be done on a BMX, and appreciate the riding even if it's not their cup of tea. But this feeling seems to only be one way, as some BMXers refuse to even acknowledge the skill involved in other forms of riding. Surely we all ride bikes, ad therefore, seeing as the riding community, though reasonably sizey, isn't exactly in the realms of world dominaition, we should all be supporting one another, rather than putting each other down because someone doesn't choose to ride the same way as another. I guess that's really my point for this, so I'm not going to go on and on, I'm just sick and tired of a few small minded individuals dragging it down for the rest of us. So fuck off. |
