| A Safe Place by Ruphalfa You look for a place, that one place where you can be safe. You search so hard to find that place that you convince yourself that the first place you find will be that safe place. You look around this place and start to say, "Yes, this is safe." You give your reasons, which are really excuses, about what makes this place safe. Then you have a reality check. Maybe it is from inside your safe place, maybe it is from outside. Regardless, your safe place has its walls starting to tremble, just a little. Then something happens within your safe place and your safe place is not as safe as it used to be. The doors that kept things out seems to be letting things in. And so, your safe place's walls start to crumble, slowly, and then all at once. You are no longer in a safe place. You must fend for yourself. No longer do you want to have another safe place. You tell yourself there is no such thing as a safe place. You pass be several safe places and you don't stay and one safe place catches your eye. You stand, trying to decide if this place is safe. And you think, "Is it safe?" You look around this place and start to say "Yes, this is safe." |
