Camping in Montana
Holland Lake
Holland Lake is by far my favorite place that i have ever been to. That seems to be the censis at RUOutdoors. Holland is the most beautiful place i have had the privelage to see. With the towering Mission Mountains to its east and a massive water fall coming down through the canyon it is a place to remember. The lake itself is absolutely beautiful. It is a very unique lake being one of the deepest lake in Montana. It isnt very big though. It is from shore to shore at its widest is only about a mile long. The water is always clear and cool. The marine life there ranges considerably. The bottom of the lake is mostly rocky being not to over grown. At its west end the lake is only about 5 to twenty feet deep for about 1/4 of a mile thyen it slowy drops off until the east end where a cliff drops down from about 75 feet to about 200 feet with very large boulders. Our fish finder went from one point on the lake at 100 feet back down the 200 then up again to 150 and so on.
The mountains that surround the lake are amazing. Its on the out side edge of the Bob Marshal wilderness. The wildlife is great and the senery is wonderful. There is a a great lodge on the north end of the lake on a little outstrech into the lake. Holland Lodge is a beautiful log building that houses a resturaunt, a bar cabins, gift house ec. It is located just north of Seely Montana about 20 miles. For anyone who wants a totaly life altering expierience go there! It rocks!
