The Run with the Trojans are proud to invite you to its 5th annual race. It will be held on June 13 2009, In front of the Country Garden Apartments on Colleen road in Troy, NY, located 1.7 miles from HVCC and just off Campbell's avenue. The race will be run on Colleen road, down Sherman avenue, up Campbell's avenue, and finally to the finish on top of Colleen road. We are very excited about the prospect of our 5th annual event, and we would love for you to come aboard and Run with the Trojans!
The Run with the Trojans supports the Troy Trailblazers, a club in November of 1995, to encourage a healthy lifestyle through running for both students of Troy high, as well as community high school athletes. Three times a year the Trailblazers get together and perform in the Junior Olympics. Junior Olympics has been a great help to motivate those members who otherwise would have stopped running.
The Run with the Trojans also supports running and athletics in general. Last year the Run with the Trojans donated to the College of Saint Rose Cross-Country team and plans to support a little league baseball team are in the works.
The "Run with the Trojans 4 Miler" is our chance to put on an event that the whole community can take part in and enjoy. Not just for adults, but for children too, we hope to make the second Saturday in June an annual day that we can all come together in the spirit of health and fun. Proceeds will benefit the Troy Trailblazers and help us to continue to grow and also provide more to the community. To make the event as entertaining and successful as we have reached out to the local businesses and stores to assist us. Any and all help is undeniably appreciated, as we attempt to create what will become a staple of early summer in Troy.
Inferno Pizzeria has offered to host their 5th annual picnic at their restaurant on 79 Campbell's avenue, for all runners and community members. Inferno, along with the many other sponsors, are greatly appreciated for their help along the path of constructing this race. Last year Talham, Inc. donated all of their road cones to protect the runners against traffic, The City of Troy donated a Police Car, The Franklin Terrace Ballroom donated tables, L & S garden center donated fruit and Brad Lewis Lawn Care donated his trucks and equipment for the event.
